NHS Strike
« on October 13, 2014, 11:22:29 am by IC1967 »
What planet are these people on? Don't they know the country is drowning in debt? Don't they know how hard it's been for workers in the private sector?

They get increments of 3% a year on average. On top of this they also want a pay rise.

You couldn't make it up.

I love how you just bundle everyone in private sector together and say "it's been hard". I personally have had pay rises every year for the last 8 years above 3% each year. And in previous years I probably didn't work as hard or the same hours as a lot of nurses.

meh.

I love the way you look at your own personal circumstances and then extrapolate from this that the private sector is doing just fine. The fact is that the public sector is doing much better than the private sector and has done for many years. It is totally ridiculous that we in the private sector should keep on paying over the odds for the public sector gravy train.

Your point is? Are you saying all public sector workers should get 11%%. Get a grip man. The country is broke.

Yep. But it's nothing to do with the political party in charge of the country is it Mick ?

Who is getting a 11"% pay rise? Genuine question as don't no

Recommended by the independent panel for mp's to get 11%.
Now to be absolutely fair quite a few MP's said don't be so stupid but the independent parliamentary  standards have basically said you must have it. Unless owts changed recently

Just said that but the standards have said you must have it from 2015 no doubt that's to hope the great unwashed have forgotten about it

all public workers should get a pay rise inline with inflation every year IMO. The last thing health services, education, the police and fire services need is workers leaving and switching to the private sector because their wage is, relatively speaking, reducing each year in the public sector.

The private sector is different. Workers leaving to get better paid jobs at another company does not affect public services.

One point that gets lost in this debate is that the private sector pays for the public sector. It's all well and good saying the public sector should get all these pay rises but it's going to come out of the private sector which has had a much harder time of it in recent years. We can't keep on borrowing like crazy to fund the shortfall. We need to live within our means.
