In the highlights, at the ft whistle, you can see him walking freely in the background.

Ta, perhaps he milked it slightly for the red! No harm in that.

Actually, I would rather our players didn't do that.

I don't think he did milk it. It was a nasty challenge but probably just bruising

I think to suggest he milked it is outrageous. it was a bad challenge & he didn't roll about like a schoolgirl he made himself into a ball to protect himself & to ascertain he was ok. Copps is as honest as the days long & any suggestion to the contrary wants shooting down immediately as I can't ever remember him milking it.

At Barnsley all those years ago he didn't throw himself over the wall, did he?

Why? Its not great to see, no. But its in our game over here now whether we like it or not. If it means us getting an advantage in the game then i havent got a problem with it at all.

Until the FA do something about play acting or whatever you want to call it. Then you have to do all you can to win the game. Absolutely win at all costs.

That's a small reason i think England have been struggling recently, we dont know how to win games. You need to be clever with it. Unless you just want to win the fair play award and nothing else of course

You shouldn't even need to ask. Just because other players and their coaches want to destroy the game does NOT mean he or we should join in by glamourising blatant cheating.
I have never known Copps ever deliberately cheat in any of the games I have watched him play in .

Because it is cheating.  We got 3 yellows vs Sheff Utd where their players all made the most of it, and only one (Keegan) deserved to be a yellow.

No sorry I disagree, "milking it" to get a fellow pro sent off is out of order - just look at Tomkins (?) on MOTD this weekend, goes down holding his face when he has had nothing more than a soft push in the chest.

We are better than that.  It is not for us to copy this behaviour to win at all costs, it is for the football authorities to clamp down on it,

RJ

I've just looked in the Oxford English Dictionary

cheat. (v.) to deceive.

Just a hunch, but I think what you are talking about is what they call "cheating" in plain English.

To suggest that Copps cheated by milking it is unbelievable, it was a nasty two footed challenge on him and its not as though he rolled about like some players do.

For the record, I'm not accusing Coppinger of cheating on Saturday.

I think Copps is one of the last players who would do that.  I remember at Oakwell in 2005/6 (?) he got take out twice, once over the advertising hoardings, resulting in 2 red cards for Barnsley.

This thread has moved on to be about cheating in general.

Had he have got up as if nothing had happened, then we wouldn't like to see that. It looks as though he got a nasty knock and was unable to continue.

I've said it before and I'm saying it again, Officials are to blame for encouraging diving. It is difficult to get a free kick unless the fouled player exaggerates contact by falling or diving, and it's almost impossible to get a penalty without diving.

Referees tend to judge infringements, and the severity of them by the reaction of players following contact.

Aye bb and sometimes the blatant ones are missed if you don't roll around like a sniper's shot you! It's sad! I was on the end if a horrific 'naughtty' challenge on sunday - the oppo striker and I were going for the same ball (he had every right to) - I slid across my area and pulled the ball away from him! With the ball in my hands he jumped on my left ribs and right arm - it hurt! The ref was facing the other way as he could see I was gonna claim the ball and missed the blant two footed studs up jump on me! I just asked for a nmin to get my breath back but had to put the ball out of play first (understandable,) got my breath back and carried on! Am now at the gps waiting to see if my ribs are broken - I don't think they are but I'm in a lot of pain and they could be! Straight after the game the ref came to me, apologised anbd said it was obvious from my reaction (without simulation) that the guy had jumped in. But he'd missed it so couldn't award anything or deal with the challenge! The lino on my side was uyp the other end of the pitch so he'd missed it too! Just shows that the serious ones can be missed and the play acting can be deceiving! Haha!

The ref was straight out with the red card almost as soon as Copps had landed.  So exactly what would be the point of 'milking it' when the sanction had already been decided?!!
