UKIP Flash in the pan ?
« on November 21, 2014, 08:07:08 am by not on facebook »
Or will they be knocking on doors and making Waves for
Many more years?

Liberals seem to  be falling  off face Of the voting planet

the general elections in May 2016 ,will it be a straight swap
Between UKIP and the libs ,with UKIP joining up with the reds or
Blue to form a Joint government ?

Or will UKIP fade in the general elections as voters go back to
their roots ?

They'll do ok, they've taken the Lib Dem position really.  No Tory or Labour person will be happy after last night.

Amazing how Labour can grab bad headlines on a day they could really bash the Tories though...

I expect they won't be as strong in the election next year, but they will still have a big effect on the outcome.

The Lib Dems committed political suicide when they jumped into bed with the Tories, abandoning their promise's for their 5 minutes of glory!

Good Riddance!

You know what gets me?

According to the opinion polls, there are roughly 1million people who voted LD in 2010 who now say they will vote UKIP.

The mind boggles. You could not get two parties who are further apart on pretty much EVERY issue from Europe to green energy. How on earth can anyone who has a moral stance on these issues switch from one to the other?

The answer, of course, is that these are the awkward squad who will vote for anyone who appears to be the outsider. Dangerous, dangerous people, who can determine elections without having any concept of what parties stand for.

I'm amazed if that's the case, the LibDems and UKIP are polar opposites.

I assumed LibDem supporters were switching to Labour and the Greens, while UKIP was picking up disgruntled Tories and Labour voters.

Re this switching, this must be the 'protest vote' and not something based on a valid idealogical standpoint.

I have always been a Liberal, not a Libdem, and never joined the Libdems when the old Liberals and SDP merged to form a mushy centreist thing.  The amorphous nature of Libdems allowed them to be whatever the person on the doorstep wanted them to be, and they could switch from left to right in a single conversation.
However following their brief flirtation with power, they are now seen as slightly soft Tories. If you wanted the Tories you would opt for the real thing no doubt, and the space between the main parties in a one dimensional linear left to right perspective of politics means there is no room in the middle any more as Labour has moved to the midground, so any space is at the edges, and in this case UKIP are on the far right but have managed to bend that right to left line into a circle to attract Labour votes.

I look forward to some incisive political punditry now from IC1967........

There is talk of a possible couple mps jumping ship to UKIP.

I have a fealing that UKIP know who is jumping and who is not,and are
Keeping this very close to Chest.

UKIP will have a game plan Of When whatever mp wants to jump
Ship  hence they will pick the time that benafits UKIP far more as
the political climate swings about.

UKIP will pick or Choose their time When to let all and sundry know
When next mp will jump ship  to them.

They seem to be very streetwise on their timing Of Such important
Issues.

But When it comes to general election a think they  will fall a tad short
Of Their projected votes, but claiming a result at the sametime.

RD/Longbridge

Today's YouGov poll
http://cdn.yougov.com/cumulus_uploads/document/qori88196k/YG-Archive-Pol-Sun-results-201114.pdf

8th column, 5th row down. 12% of people in the poll who voted LD in 2010 now say they will vote UKIP. 6.8million people voted LD in 2010, so that means 800 and odd thousand of them are now supporting UKIP. I wonder who these people are and how they function in the grown up world.

Can't see UKIP having much success up here , Labour's 40 odd Westminster seats under serious threat from the SNP , as is the only Tory !!  Expect to see  Alec Salmon as an MP possibly at the expense of the Lib Dem Danny Alexander ( deputy minister at the Treasury )
Labour really need the No voters to turn out in numbers .
