Our "genuine pre season expectations"
« on April 08, 2015, 01:36:29 pm by Bristol Red Rover »
I've read a lot about people saying we have underachieved, so... totting up our expecations from this thread http://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=248030.0 29 July - 2 August our "realistic" expectations were:

Promotion: 2
Play Offs: 6
Top 8: 4
Top 10: 4
Mid Table: 13
Bottom Half: 3
Relegation: 1

Roughly speaking, I make that an average of 10-12 place.

Fair point Bristol red.
The big issue though, as I see it anyway, is that we were in a reasonably good position to get in the playoffs and we ****** it up again.
Again, as in we were safe in the a Championship last season, and ****** it up. As such, we shouldn't even be having this conversation

About 1o other teams were in the same position thou,in the end the players have not been good enough over the season, hopefully next season we can replace most of the back 4 or we will have the same problem again

And the 'strikers' have not scored enough goals, so we'll need to replace all those as well. And we've been overrun in midfield too often, so Let's replace them as well................................

can someone tell me how many pens we had? I can't recall that many, that tells me a hole lot of problems, from defence to midfield not moveing ball forward quick enough to forwards not geting in the box enough to cause problems, for us to move forward thing like this can't be overlooked

We have added to the squad though since people started to vote.
These additions were to improve our chances so optimism might have increased if fans had voted later giving a different result.

The last post in that thread was on August 1st. Subsequent to that Dickov has signed a number of players, permanents and loans, and the goalposts no doubt shifted. We have underachieved.

So yes, Dickov out.

Some explicity assumed the squad would be strengthened and voted with that taken into account. Others possibly made that assumtion too?

I think it does show pretty much that we are where we expected, but maybe people were also ready to moan about what they expected to happen

Correct,
People moaned in the summer that we were only ever going to be good enough for midtable, then it happens and they moan that it's happened.

I didn't post in that thread and didn't expect us to be top 6. Probably around 8th - 10th which we may end up doing. But (and it's a big but) I will be disappointed and want Dickov out. Why? Because in almost 2 full seasons I haven't seen any sign that he has any sort of managerial ability. And that he won't be capable of progress next year.

Predicted 10th I think but I am disappointed but for me Dickov 100% in . he will learn from this, he is a fighter we know that from his own footy days as a player and ,.......he should have a fully uninterrupted preseason with the squad.
