I had dealings with Gr33n energy and they agreed to do external wall insulation and solar panels and then wouldn't do the external wall insulation after they had fitted the solar panels. Apparently their contract said that they could cancel any part of the agreement at any time, so be wary.

I'm not buying owt, I've been offerd a job by them, self employed and the speil they gave me was I'd be earning £3k a week, surveying for and selling solar panels. I'm not entirely convinced by them, I have no sales experience attended a "job presentation" which was basically a look around their offices, alot of speil about how easy the job was and then offered the job, neveronce asked about me, what I'd done or anything, I even told him I had no sales experience, he said it didn't matter, 2 days training, 1 day with another rep and then out on my own the day after

Based on what you say, Filo, I wouldn't take it, especially if it means giving up secure work. Though it would be good to talk to someone who has worked for them.

A good employer would want to know about your previous history and experience. The fact they don't rings alarm bells with me.

To tell you the truth though, solar panels should be a no-brainer for anyone who is looking to stay in their property and they point in the right direction.  The government give you back £500 a year plus the free electric for you.  People should really be dragging salesmen into their homes to sign up. My gripe was that I wanted the external wall insulation and they wouldn't do it even after signing a contract.

I wouldn't take the job. If it sounds too good to be true then it is. No way would you make that kind of money. If you did, you'd be working all the hours that God sends and would be lying to customers about the products you're selling.

My experience of this type of company (this company actually did come to my house once) is that they over claim the benefits of solar panels etc. You strike me as an honest, upstanding individual and I know you would not be comfortable in this environment. You'd be effectively conning customers to earn your commission.

They didn't get any business off me. I did however have solar panels installed by another company as I could see that it was indeed an excellent investment. It still is but is nowhere near as good as this type of company claims or as good as it was when I had mine installed.

Given that this company is prepared to take you on without asking about any previous experience, I would have thought they'd let you maybe work one day a week so you could fit it around your existing job. That's if you wanted to give it a try and see if they are actually a genuine company. I very much doubt they will be though because they have to compete with all the other unethical companies out there. If they played it straight, unfortunately they'd probably go out of business pretty quickly.

Unfortunately for them when they came to see me I was clued up. I could prove that the benefits they were claiming were wrong. They tried to sell me solar panels for hot water and claimed it was cost effective. No way it was. (The solar panels I've got are just for generating electricity).

I'd leave well alone.
