Avoid Temple Bar, it.s a rip off except Palace Bar at Westmoreland St end, best pint in Dublin and a real traditional proper Dublin pub IMHO.
Try Ballsbridge Hotel, classy hotel and they might do you a deal there.
For genuine trad music go to the scruffy Cobblestone in Smithfield.

Italian quarter on the quays.

Check the internet for hotel offers, they're competing one against another.
There's a tourist office where Peterson's pipe shop was on College Green near Trinity College that will give you all help with tours and places of cultural interest

Try the west coast of the Republic of Ireland, Westport, small town in Mayo ,loads of bars ,but no slot arcades or chavy gangs and no litter.

Yes Westport Co Mayo Draytonian is a fine little town but you might not yet have heard of the Greenway, it's a cycle/walking track on disused railway along the Atlantic Coast from Westport to Achil Island, no motor traffic and spectacular scenery and quiet sandy bays all along it.  Family friendly, bicycle hire and B&B everywhere.  I'd recommend it to anyone for a visit.

I'll second that. When Rovers were playing in the South-West a few of us stayed in Worcester for the night out on several occasions. Small town, a few bars, one club but we had a great laugh as we were all great mates together on the pop after a day away with the Rovers. That was before most of us got married and had kids, mind. Different era.
