PD MASTERMIND
« on July 30, 2015, 07:25:40 am by Upton Rover »
I would just like to say that PD, so far this Pre-Season has been a mastermind and needs a mention. We have bought in some fantastic players, One of whom I think could be just about one of the best goal keepers in L1 and would get a place in many Chapionship teams. He also acted on last seasons poor home form buy arranging 4 top home friendlies, and in 3 of them, we have gone and played some fantastic football at times and remain unbeaten, these 3 teams who came to the KM were no mugs and just take a look at what some Sunderland fans are saying about there performance, and ask the Dingles hOw they got on with the BORO in their friendly.
Granted I still think we are 2-3 good experienced players short,  however playing like we are at the moment will only attract the better players.
What I want to say is to all you people who moan & moan, like when last nights team sheet came out, PLEASE lets stop all the moaning, and lets all get behind the team, manager & board and all untie as 1 and support the team. BRING ON BURY

HE'S had a good pre season bar the right back issue. If he keeps it up when it matters then he'll have done a great job in turning it around. A long way to go yet but signs are promising.

PD will be judged on the team's performances, but for now we should support the team and back them. Criticising a team pre-season is  simply ridiculous. We've had a good pre-season despite PD rotating the teams he puts out. Hope this season PD will be tactically astute, pre-season suggests he has learnt from the lessons of the past two seasons.

Despite what seem to be promising signings, Dickov's still got to prove he can get the best out of these players. Fingers crossed he can, but am I confident he has learned from past  mistakes?

He seems a bit calmer on the touchline, but that might be because they are only friendlies, no lengthy rants at the officials over disputed decisions. Hope that continues, should allow him to concentrate on the game a bit more.

The better players he has on the pitch, the calmer he will be.

If PD is calmer and making better decisions, could that be because he's now got the management team he wants?

Was Brian Horton his choice, or like Wignall and Lewer, were they forced on each other?

We won't know the answer to that one for some time, of course. And we can't really judge how Dickov is doing until the season starts in earnest.
Interesting, though, that far from retiring, Horton appears to be going to replace Dave Penney at Southend.

He might not have a choice. I understand that the FL have warned all clubs that they wont tolerate abuse of the 4th official this coming season.

Very difficult to quantify that one though. Yes PD queries a lot of decisions with the 4th official but I don't think there has been a case where he could be said to have abused one?
They would be better off by stamping on the likes of Rooney for abusing referees.

Just as well for Nigel Clough he is out of work then. By far the most foul mouthed manager I've heard.

Don't all managers have a go at the fourth official on a regular basis?

You have to remember that Dickov is a young manager still, learning his trade. This season he seems to have the tools to forge a good successful side. The rest is now up to him and the decisions he makes.

Funny you should say that. I thought young Nigel was a "nice young man" until I saw him and Gary Crosby in a Burton game at Tamworth. They spent the game giving dogs abuse to a female lino. By the way, I don't think they were being sexist- I think they'd have given a bloke the same.

Didn't surprise me at all when I saw him at Derby ranting at the officials for 90 minutes.
