Women's sport
« on August 01, 2015, 11:02:10 pm by IC1967 »
I'm sorry but I think there is far too much coverage of women's sport these days. I'm getting fed up of hearing about the women playing cricket, football and particularly golf.

Fair enough when there is a World Cup on but I get the feeling the BBC in particular feels it has to mention some women's sport in every sports bulletin they do (political correctness gone mad). I've got news for them. Most people (including women) couldn't give a stuff about women's sport.

I guarantee that anyone that knows anything about golf could reel off ten top men players. I bet hardly any of them could name one leading woman golfer. So lets have a bit of perspective and lets once again ignore women's sport.

It was on BBC1 & 2 earlier at the same time. Shows how far the Beeb has fallen.

30000 people turn up to watch a football match, why are you suprised it's on tv?

The sport that most get's my goat on tv is horseracing. It's on every day. All day. And nothing happens. The horses start there. And finish there. Then go back and do it again. Except when they fall over and have to be put down which is cruel.

But worst of all are the people who go watch it, what a load of la de da idiots. Supporting a gambling culture that does nothing but cause misery for so many families.

Get rid of horseracing on tv, it will free up hundreds of hours of broadcasting time - which could be filled by women's cycling, sorted.

In reply to your original post IC, how does Lydia Ko, Inbee Park, Stacy Lewis and our own Brits Charley Hull, Amy Boulden, Florentyna Parker sound? That's without looking at the t'internet. I think they are getting coverage deserved. The women's football world cup was a success. Some impressive play and fantastic goals.

I know I'm doing exactly what he wants by responding but this thread does not deserve a response. Its arrogance and ignorance leaves me speechless.

I refuse to be drawn any more on this thread.  Got the women's golf and football highlights to watch!

Agree totally with that wilts the grand national especially makes my piss boil cos of how hard it is for the horses and how many die on that course... All in the name of 'sport'.

Entertainment wise, I detest golf on TV, just watching folk walking from on hole to another, let's look at the leaderboard again, oh and now it's over to 'so-n-so' for his tee off on the 5th.

Cuts to a guy taking 20 practice swings, then he eventually hits the all, sky, sky, Sky, more sky, a bit more sky, still can't see the frigging ball, cut to a bit of rough where the balls already landed but no one can see it. Back to the leaderboard.
Boring, boring sport to watch anyway, I'm sure there's a few golfers on here so I'll say no more about the sport.

They should televise world Crazy Golf championships then that'd be more entertaining!!

And that HD is why it all needs to be balanced. I can't stand horse racing, boxing or motor racing. All get more coverage than I want but I accept many others love it. Me....I love watching the golf and cricket.

I don't recognise any of those names I'm proud to say. I agree about the women's world cup. That should have had coverage and maybe the women's FA cup final. After that though women's football should be left well alone. They are trying to get a slot on Match of the Day! I can't get my breath.

The BBC has got enough channels now to put women's sport on one of their obscure channels to confirm they are politically correct. I don't want to hear about it on mainstream channels or radio.

One women's sport that should be totally banned is boxing. It's bad enough punching someone in the head but getting punched on your titties can't be very good for them.

They used the 'obscure' channels for the world cup. They televised a few later games on the mainstream channels and picked up in excess of a million viewers, so that was good justification for doing it.

I've no problem with major events like the world cup being on mainstream telly. However when watching a 5 minute sport bulletin I don't want to hear about which female golfer is leading the Taiwan Open. It is of interest to no more than 0.000001% of the population. When you've only got 5 minutes there's much more important men's sport that could be talked about.

Tennis. This one makes my piss boil. The women play 3 sets and are vastly inferior to the men yet get equal coverage and get paid the same!!! What really put me off women's tennis is when they all started wearing 'big' knickers. If they went back to wearing normal knickers I might watch a bit more. Same with football. Why do they have to wear shorts like the men? Surely short skirts would do wonders for the game. I'd certainly watch a lot more of it.

IC1967 (not a fan of big knickers)

Horse racing isn't on every day. Far from it. It's on every Saturday and then just the big meetings during the week. Probably 6/7 a year.

I think you mean The Women's Open (British). Other than that, it never gets a mention. I also agree about the 3 set thing in tennis, bearing in mind I believe it's now equal pay.

Regarding your other parts of the post IC, you need to start posting under the username Sepp Blatter with those comments!

Took the words out of my mouth Bobjimwilly. I can take the right wing nonsense all day long but this thread well below the belt. Ban this cretin and all future suspected aliases for good. Please. Or you're all as bad as him for condoning it.

I think we should put all women sports persons in a boat along with those pesky darkies and blow them up.
That'll teach em for trying to play sport in our country.

Not much point really BJW. It's like Splat the Frog. Every time he's hammered on the head, another one pops up. In fact, it's more like the Hydra of Greek mythology. Every time you cut off one head, two others grow back.

That said, at least Mick v1.0 and Mick v2.0 had a sufficient sense of shame and humility to f**k off when they had made pricks of themselves. V3.0 hasn't even got that sense of shame. So when he's called out as a pathological liar and humiliated over it, he just brazens it out. Maybe it'd do him a favour to be put down and allowed to pop back up as whichever of his current alter egos he wants to push as v4.0.

The circle of those who know Mick for the nasty, unpleasant and unintelligent fool that he is is clearly rapidly growing bigger and bigger. Well done Mick. You're clearly a really top rank expert at that difficult art: influencing people. Keep it up. And when you learn to use capital letters, who knows? You might even influence even more. What's it like to be despised by so many?

Cheers

Without wanting to get into the relative merits of womens' sports, if this thread is about TV coverage, why shouldn't TV show sport for 51% of the population?

And only on Channel 4 nowadays (for free) so I don't get the argument! If it wasn't popular then the commercial people at CH4 would soon get rid!

He tends to disappear when he severely embarrasses himself then pops back up again as if nothing had happened and expecting people to have forgotten.
