Gray. I know. You've told me before.
What I saw, especially in the 2nd half, was intelligent linking with midfield, a couple of perfectly judged headers that drew out defenders and set up attacks a la Chris Brown, and generally good (not outstanding) in the hole play.
I didn't see anything that looked like a lost cause. I DID see one of our fans screaming abuse at Main for not being on a level with Williams when we broke quickly, and clearly missing the fact that Main had just made a tackle 30 yards inside our half to set the move up 5 seconds previously. Each to their own. If people have decided that Main is irredeemably shit, their mental filter will stop some of those positives from coming through.

Billy, you are right about not changing peoples opinions.
There are blokes near where i sit who constantly comment on how bad Main is even when he has just done something decent.
On Saturday Jones was forced into playing Curtis as the front man due to the injury to Williams and clearly that single striker role doesnt suit him.

Billy, mi old flower, you can wax lyrical all you want about Curtis, but to me he is below even Guy when it comes to strikers we've had the misfortune to watch. If you see something in him, then fair play to you, I'm not going to change your opinion and you are definitely not going to change mine. The older I get, the less tolerable I become. I haven't got the time left to wait for him to come good. He is a waste of space and I wouldn't let him anywhere near a shirt.
He's probably a nice lad, but that's as far as it goes, nothing personal, I just think he is garbage.

Alan
There is a huge spectrum between "waxing lyrical" and insisting that a player will never come good while he's got a hole in his arse.
All I'm saying is that I saw a perfectly competent display from Main at Walsall. And what I saw of him there leaves me questioning the judgement if those who think he was useless there.
I am NOT saying he looked like the next Dejan Savicevic. I am NOT saying he was imperious and flawless. I am saying that, based on that one performance, I reckon Jones might have found a role for him.
Now, you can convince yourself that I'm actually saying something else, and work yourself up into a lather about it if you want. Your choice.

I think our crowd is pretty patient most of the time, but a weakness we have is we write players off too soon, or are even blind to what a player brings to the team, until they are gone.
Cotterill is one of many that wasn't appreciated by many, on Curtis he has been a let down because we expected a lot when he joined, he scored a cracker at York, then done bits and pieces but not much consistently.
He has ability to be a very good player, having sat in the Middlesbrough reserves for so long, he now faces a situation he probably has little experience of,''Going through a goals drought at first team level''!.
He needs to work hard, try not to snatch at opportunities, even though the service the strikers get has been abysmal, relax and believe in yourself, the goals will come.

A up all from sunny Cyprus, think Curtis's decent games are an exception to the rule, he has been awful. Any other player on those performances would have been benched. We have seen his like before, the Terry Austins, Lewis Guys, Andy Watsons, all had the skill, all clueless what to do with it. Sorry but in my opinion Curtis is lower league 2/ conference standard.
