Grant and the FA cup.

Loan ends on 2nd January so unless we can extend his stay again along with the other loan players who are also out of time we will have to go with what we have got in the next round of the cup.

But he was talking about avoiding drawing Everton as he would be precluded, so perhaps he knows something we don't?

That is interesting and gives me hope that he wants to stay for the full season.

It's a big plus for him to have the opportunity to play Stoke. It should at least encourage Everton to extend the loan for another month.

Charlton obviously rate him good enough to play in the Championship though.
Is DF missing seeing something here?

I don't think wide left is his best position though and that is where he ended up being played.

None of that would surprise me, but do you have a source please?

A good friend is a CA fan and says its all sorted for January. Going to be very interesting if he will be in squad for Saturday

We have not missed him while he has been on the "enforced" lay off - good to see the back of him

Fair enough. The only thing is that Charlton are between managers at the moment. I wonder what happens if the new guy doesn't fancy HF?

As for his future with Rovers, I suspect he will only appear if needed. As we seem to have a few coming back from injury, he's probably well down the pecking order.

Get the impression (maybe unfounded) that he thinks he is some Billy Big Balls and although an undoubted talent, he needs to put in the hard work also - he often goes missing in games.  If we get a reasonable fee for him I think he will be let go. There's a good chance he may prove to be a better player at a higher level...

If he goes to Charlton perhaps we should ask for that Harriott kid who played for Colchester against us, to be loaned to us as part of the deal. He was class!!

Why on Earth would we get any fee at all for him MM? You say he's "some Billy Big Balls" and "he often goes missing in games". If you can see that then it's pretty unlikely scouts and managers won't see it too. Why would they pay any money for a player with those characteristics?

Completely disagree - even if his attitude is suspect and he drifts in and out of games, if there's a manager out there who believes he can harness his potential then HF is well worth the proverbial punt to buy him.

That said, if he really doesn't feature in Ferguson's plans then I suspect we would be prepared to let him go for nothing as I imagine he's one of the top earners and freeing him off the wage bill would give DF more room to manoeuvre and bring in someone that he does fancy.

"Why on earth would we get a fee for him?"

Sure, it's a question, but it's a leading one implying that you don't think that we would ever get a fee for him. Which I completely disagree with because even though there are obvious question marks over him, he's got talent and that's worth something.

How on earth does a thread about Connor grant end up being about Harry Forrester?

DF said when we last extended Grants loan, that he hoped it could also be extended for the season, but he was less confident about Mattioni being allowed to stay for that long. Mattioni didn't play v Cambridge either....

Mattioni is injured. Might be back for the Burton game.
