Dear all,

In the wake of the terrorist attack on the Stade de France during the recent France versus Germany international match, I would appreciate a few minutes of your time to hear your thoughts on how this will impact on security at football matches in the UK:

Thank you in advance.

Some very poor and leading questions in there:

Quote
Two games in Belgium were recently called off amid security fears. Do you think the Paris attacks were football's equivalent of 9/11? In other words, will everything change as a result?

Equivalent of 9/11?

Quote
Do you think we, as a population, have simply learned to live with risk (of many kinds) as part of our daily routines?

We live at a time of microscopic personal risk. In the 1980's we lived under fear of nuclear armageddon, in the early 1940's under fear of invasion.

What University are you at?

Amen to that. It worries me a lot that we are incapable of realising that we are living in pretty much THE most peaceful period of the past 600 years. Previous generations lived with the constant existence or threat of huge conflict and a far, far higher risk of violent death than we do.

The questionnaire made me feel angry . Living in Brussels has been sickening this last ten days because of the lack of proportion  on part of the government .. trying to put fear into people when in fact we should all have been on the street living our lives normally . Let's get on with life !

I lived in Paris and my girlfriend still lives there, i go nearly every fortnight. I will be there on Friday night doing exactly what we always do, no fear on my part.

As an aside, what is Brussels like for tourists? Going there for a day or two early in the New Year.

Not great, if you've not finalised your trip go to Antwerp or Bruges. Brussells is completely soulless.

+2 no brainer for me .

Incidentally the questionnaire left me cold too ; I gave up 4 questions into it . Agree totally with BST the over-reaction to current events is beyond belief . with a few exceptions we as a nation and in fact Europe as a whole are going through a relatively safe period free of war and pestilence.

Thanks to those who have completed the survey. It is not meant to be leading, just trying to get a sense of fan views on security at football. It is still live if anyone has a spare few minutes.
