Gooch
« on February 02, 2016, 10:21:10 pm by Copps is Magic »
Head down, runs no where. Not big enough to trouble defenders or win headers. Some of our loans have worked, not sure this lad is quite good enough. Mandeville to start.

He's only here for a month, like the Stoke lad. Hopefully Tyson will be fit soon and these two can go back and allow us to bring in a defender.

He has ability but he's not there. I would rather see our young lad playing.

This is my view too. Good skills, no end product. Like a younger copps.

He's awful! Worst player on the pitch after Chaplow. Not sure if he was better or worse than Evina. Neither successfully crossed a ball

Glad it's not just me. I watched him tonight and felt that gif all his huff and puff there was no end product. Couldn't really see what he was offering us.

In his defence, he needs ball to feet and we just didn't get him on the ball enough.

On the other hand he missed opportunities and made wrong decisions when well placed.

Only for two more weeks if he does not improve, while the DF has to put up with others just as bad for 18 months.

You cant win them all and this lad has a lot of work to do to make it in the pro game never mind top flight football..He obviously has a lot more talent than weve seen though...I do wish that he had started Mandeville after his previous performance so DF rushed that one I think...And as I've said previously I'm disappointed he hasn't given young Marosi his chance in goal with a run of games to show us what he's got...Must be disheartening to sit on the bench all season and then when the chance comes you are swiftly overlooked...They are two wasted loans for me

The problem is the long balls, in the 1st half against fleetwood he looked done talent, since then had he had a pass to his feet?

We have a team almost uniquely configured to play with the ball on the floor. This season we have won a total of six headers up front, all of which have been won by Tyson. You may ask then why we continually pump the ball up front as hard as possible then. The perennial ATS "ball" into touch is a particular favourite.

He looked a better player when he dropped back into midfield in the last 15minutes.

He might just need time, he is only a young player very similar to ours, we just expect more because he comes from the premier league.

Reading this back, I think it's a bit of a stupid comment. Glad I'm not involved in football in anyway because I'm a knee-jerker like the rest of them. Unfair to judge this kid on what I've seen so far, we tend to want instant success and when it's not achieved knee-jerkers like me just say 'throw it away' basically. That kind of thinking leaves no room for player-development. I think this kid has some of the basics needed to be a footballer and his weaknesses (looking up, getting the ball away quicker), he can definitely work on to improve.

That could be due to the fact that is a midfielder and for some reason we are playing him up front!

Apart from Conor Grant; I think all of Fergie's signings have been average - poor, unfortunately!

He got the ball to his feet plenty of times on Tuesday but his first touch was poor & he doesn't have the physic to win it back.

Having said that, he looked ok on his debut against Fleetwood so lets give the lad a chance. He's just a stop gap until Tyson is fit after all.

Jones brought in Keshi. Felipe was good, I forgot about him. alcock was average/good on loan, looks poor now he's got himself a permanent.

Appointing Ferguson means accepting his system of play. You then have to accept that his signings fit into that system - not every player will be able to do that. He obviously knows Alcock can play for him.
