I tend to agree with what the commentators are saying, the keeper could have prevented all of that if he'd made an effort to stop the ball going in, they would then have some sort of case to be allowed a walk in goal

For me the giving back of the ball is a stupid idea as is the uncontested drop ball.
Stopping the game should be left entirely to the ref faking an injury for the ball to be put out of play is now used as a tactic to stop the game by some teams.

Like Millwall yesterday, in 2nd half one of there players went down, as soon as the ref stopped play he got nothing wrong with him.In that situation the player should be booked and the opposition either get a free kick or the ball from a drop ball.

The simple solution is for the ref and linesman to have a quick word and agree that it was afoul throw. End of controversy.

You can't blame the goalie it's gone about 20 yards over his head and bounced on the line
He shouldn't have to try and sprint back and save it
Guiseley a disgrace there

There are two options.
First, go back to properly contesting the drop ball after the ref has stopped the game.
Secondly, and here's a new idea(?) restart the game in such circumstances with an indirect free-kick to the team in possession when the ref stopped play, from the position where the ball was at that time. That then re-starts the game properly and into competitive play.
If a team puts the ball out of play, for a throw in, so that their own player or even an opponent can be treated for injury, tough titty. The opposition plays on.
Similarly lets stop this daft rule of a player having to leave the pitch after an injury treatment. A defending team may be short of a key player defending a free kick etc, and the rule at the moment never applies to the goalie.
It was brought in, if I remember correctly, for the USA world cup in 1994 to speed up the game. They used those buggys to help get the players off the pitch.
And refs/the fa should clamp down on fake injuries. It is as much cheating as diving - start giving players a yellow card.
While I am on one, let's get rid of a red card for a "denial of obvious goalscoring opportunity" infringement when this results in a penalty. WTF is a penalty if not an "obvious goalscoring opportunity"?? Red card outside the box, yes - inside, penalty and yellow card at worse.
Rant over!!
