I believe it is an "offence" in law to run  on the pitch in the UK so why do not EU regulations apply to Spain ??

tonite I have just seen another pitch invasion when a Spanish team avoids relegation

is it a different type of grass ??

a) It's got f**k all to do withEU regulations
b) Spanish fans didn't develop the reputation for stoving each other's heads in that we did in years past.
c) Do you really need to ask?

It happens over here at most end of season games that have significance. Very few supporters of those teams seem to care, reading their forums.

Not like the outcry on here when it's happened with us in the past

Which EU regulation is it that relates to pitch invasions? I know from the Chesterfield thread that you check these things thoroughly? Ta.

let's do this slowly

(a) ok  football offences act 1991 section 4

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1991/19/section/4

and this one is more understandable for joe public

http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/d_to_g/football_related_offences/#a02
----------------

(b) with my reference to the types of grass I thought you might have guessed I was taking the pi$$ out of EU regulations - I INVENTED THAT BIT !!! - (ACTIONS SUCH AS THIS USED TO BE CALLED A "JOKE")
sadly it "flew over B.S.T's head ( he must have that pat Jennings feeling)
(c) it was an observation
(d) did anyone notice all the Spanish final matches were not played on the same day - just an observation
(e) this act probably came into operation in 1992 (act 1991) so it's been around for 24 years -- it took rather a while to become flavour of the month ?

The laws you refer to are UK legislation.

Why would they apply in Spain?

Although it is possible that Spain foes have equivalent legislation, but that it is not rigorously enforced (in the same way that the Burton pitch invasion was allowed to happen last week).

Probably the same as over here. One person runs on the pitch, he gets arrested, gets a fine and a banning order. A thousand people run on the pitch and the authorities turn a blind eye because they fear that to take action would lead to violent disorder.

If you normally take the p*ss out of EU law by quoting a UK law that in your opinion is even sillier then it's no wonder people don't get your "jokes"...unless the "joke" explanation is just a very weak attempt at a reverse ferret.
