I'm anticipating a budget which means real intent.

Like this season?

Yes. Would you prefer it if they didn't give the manager a decent budget?

Of course not

Just hoping the budget isn't wasted. Again.

So what was the point of your post then?

I suspect that confidence going into the start of next season will be a result of who we sign, how well we perform in pre-season friendlies and who we get rid of.

I was fairly confident about this season & look what happened !! I think I'll give up having expectations & just accept whatever happens. Good and bad.

The board can only stump up the money, then it's the managers responsibility to use it wisely. I still think the board could push things out a bit, if the manager needs to pay a fee for a player i hope he can sign the player.
As for us being the bookies favourites, i'm not sure what they are basing it on upto now, because this present squad isn't good enough to win a league.
At the minute there are at least three or four sides in that league with more quality. We have a bigger squad than most, but when you look at all the different departments of the team, we are in a bit of a mess.
If the board are serious that they want to do things different, because the old ways haven't been working, then you are looking at a lot of movement in and out.
In my opinion we will need--------Normally you wouldn't want so many ins and outs, but it's needed!.

Goalkeepers-2
Defence Left back-1 centre halves-2
Midfield Central -2
Wingers-2
Strikers-3
12 permanent signings+ maybe 2 loans excluding injuries.

out Stuckmann, Marosi, Taylor-Sinclair, MacKenzie, Keegan, Whitehouse, N'Guessan, Tyson, Main, Stewart

Squad left
 Goalkeepers-0
Defence-4   rb Alcock, Lund
lb Evina
cb Butler
Midfield-4
McCullough,Coppinger, Chaplow, Middleton
Strikers-2 Williams, Mandeville

10 players left.

With League Two, I'll say it again, you need to be organised and good at set-pieces to get consistent results.

So many goals come from set-play situations, that it's ridiculous.

Is there analysis available to support this?

Do I really need to spell it out?

3 relegations in 5 years should leave us all in no doubt that unless something drastic is done, nothing will change and therefore another awful season will be upon us.

Whatever the Club have been doing, they have systematically got it wrong. When I say Club, I mean everyone concerned, from the the Board down.

If things are to progress from where we find ourselves right now, then major surgery is required and I simply do not have the confidence in the current set-up to manufacture the changes that are necessary. We are Club going nowhere as things stand.

Don't forget that in the same period there was also a promotion, what was systematically wrong that season?

Past failures don't necessarily mean future ones.

The evolution/revolution needs to be with the players and how they are managed.

Obviously. It's the close season and matches haven't started yet.

Have you got that comment on repeat. There can't be many threads left that you've not got it into.

Drastic measures are needed this summer, and a change in how things are done!. I'm bored of saying it, but a squad has to be built that is good enough to serve us in the league above, as well as league two.
It needs to be a squad mostly based on contracted players, with a couple of loans as well the squad will be slightly smaller around twenty players.
We badly need partnerships to be formed, in defence, midfield and attack, all of pre season will be needed. I would arrange a fair number of fixtures, because nothing is better than playing proper games to get the understanding needed. The team needs to be fully match fit by the first game, plenty of friendlies gives the manager chance to try different things!.

I doubt that very much Sammy, if anything the squad needs to be larger for this coming season due to the changes with emergency loans.

I would expect with the loan system being as it is, around 18 contracted, with four long term loans, i'd forgot about the loan system changing.
