Kane's been taking England's corners for months. There was an article in The Times a couple of weeks back discussing this. Saying that none of the England players regularly take corners for their clubs and it could be a big Achilles' Heel.

I don't know if he's been doing it for months, the first time I saw it was in the final friendlies in the build up to this tournament (less than a month ago). I can't remember, for example, who took the corner that Dier scored the winner against Germany from, but it certainly wasn't Kane.

I don't think that it should be too much of a problem for him to take corners if he was exceptional at them. But he doesn't look taht good, and surely you'd be better off letting someone who's perceived by Hodgson to be slightly worse at corners (Lallana or Rooney are the obvious ones to me) and using Kane's 6 foot 2 frame in the box.

You'd think if you were one of the midfielders on the fringe of the squad you'd have spent the last month taking corners night and day. It might get you the shirt ahead of someone else.

Maybe footballers don't think like that nowadays.

it's bizarre to me that we have a group of footballers all worth 20-40 million each in todays crazy markets and we haven't got a midfielder who can take a decent corner???? really!!!
And that's why we have English players on world class money who don't have the ability to match...One of the drawbacks of sky money...

And that's the difference between us and Germany. They just know how to see a game out. Keep Muller and Gotze on AND bring on Schurrle. Even Wales worked it out Roy!

They didn't get out of 2nd gear and they still looked magnificent tonight. No other team in this tourny is close to them.

That's the difference for me...Thought we played well the only ones I would be concerned about would be Sterling and Kane who looked a bit lost...As copps intimated, Germany are 1-0 up and in control and make attacking subs and kill the game off...Roy decides in a similar type game to shut up shop and invite a team who showed nothing to get at us, and we paid the price....For me if a winger cant take corners he's not a winger, cant get my head round the fact that in modern Football set pieces often decide a game and we let our striker take them...pretty criminal that for me...

Taking off an attack minded players late in the game and bringing on a defensive minded one is a bad move.
It just allows a defender to push up and put additional pressure on the side making the substitution.
As has been said on here, SoD did it all the time and invariably we conceded.
Hodgsons' removal of Rooney was just the latest one to fail.

Man utd were doing it with Daley Blind, letting him take the corners, no sense at all. Alli can take then, rooney, barkley, or if you want a natural left footer for the odd one let Rose take one, decent deliverer of a ball.
Kane i can't believe that he is taking set pieces, fair enough if it's a shot on goal, but not creative free kicks and corners, all the work down the drain if he carries on the same.
A few bad results and this will be used as the final straw to sack him. i sometimes wonder if managers do things to get themselves sacked, he's supposed to be a highly experienced manager!.
I am not exaggerating, but if this is the standard at that level, it makes the ordinary man in the street think he might be able to do better!.

Play this team against wales, and for me we would have a good chance.

                                 Hart

                            Smalling  Stones

                    Walker                          Rose

                                      Dier

                       Barkley                  Alli

                                     Rooney

                                 Kane        Vardy

Rooney as a striker with a free role to wander. Kane and vardy in partnership which they are best in. Barkley and Alli supplying the chances along with rooney. We need to play without wingers with the squad he has picked. Let teams attack our flanks, our strongest defenders are there.
I'd bring Stones in for Cahill, he can pass a ball better, and there is little difference in defending between them. And for gods sake let Barkley, Alli, Rooney or even Dier take free kicks, the first three mentioned can all take a corner.

Good call that Sammy.
