Raising money for Firefly

For the last few months I have been doing some volunteer driving for Firefly, a brilliant local charity who provide transport for patients from Doncaster and the surrounding areas to Sheffield for cancer treatment at Weston Park and other hospitals. I know plenty of people on here know all about Firefly and have perhaps unfortunately even had to take advantage of the service, but if anyone wants to know more there is info on their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/FireflyCIC/.

Due to starting a new job in August I won't be able to drive for Firefly anymore so I have decided to help them out by trying to raise a bit of money. I will be doing the Sundowner Middle Distance Triathlon in Allerthorpe near York on Saturday 3rd September, this is a half iron distance race of 1.9 mile open water swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run. This will be quite a challenge as I'm not as fit as I was!

Unfortunately had my first ever Did Not Finish yesterday. Had a pretty good swim and a decent first half of the bike to then get 2 punctures in quick succession and not have enough spares to fix the second one. So had to call it a day after 38 miles of the bike. Sorry to everyone who sponsored me, but your donations will still help Firefly continue doing great things. The triathlon gods were not smiling on me!!
