Bank holiday fixtures
« on April 12, 2017, 06:48:27 am by DRFCMach2man »
Wasn't it last Easter Bank Holiday that we lost at Colchester on the Friday and at home to Blackpool on the Monday?
Have to say want a difference a year makes and revenge for last year is on the cards. Both will be tough games but we can redeem ourselves for those results and if other results go our way have one hand firmly on the League 2 Champions Trophy. Come on you reds we are in touching distance.  :rtid:

I think we will draw Friday, win Monday and Plymouth will lose Friday and win Monday.

I hope we leather them both. I remember how wound up I was after these 2 games last season so some retribution would be nice.

I think we'll draw Friday as Colchester are in good form and a draw will be a good result, and we'll seal the championship with a win on monday as Plymouth will drop points in both games.

Now Rovers have crossed the line it depends how hungover they are and how hungry they are to win the league.

Again, DF will have to use all his man management know how to make sure every player is switched on.

That will need Portsmouth to drop points too.  But it is feasible, and the best thing we can do is to win on Friday to set Monday up..

I reckon we'll draw both games. Plymouth wil lose and win, gaining a point BUT it'll be 2 games closer to the finishing line.

If we win both and Plymouth don't we've won the league. If we win one and Plymouth and Portsmouth both drop points then we get the same outcome.

I think?

Doesn't it depend on how many points they both drop?

Stevenage shot themselves in the foot with two own goals at Colchester, we won`t make the same mistakes, expect us to be buzzing, we are top of the league two wins for me.

The best outcome for Friday's games is for us to win (obviously) and for Portsmouth to beat Plymouth.

We would then have 87 points with 4 games left, Plymouth 9 points behind (78) and Portsmouth 10 behind (77).

Win vs Blackpool on Monday then puts Portsmouth out of the equation, and if Plymouth don't beat Newport then that's it.

Let's see what happens on Friday - we can't win the league that soon!!

Four points from the weekend would be a brilliant return for us. These are probably our most difficult remaining games.

I expect us to beat Wycombe and Exeter.

I personally think that Friday's results will go a long way to deciding the title. Arguably both Plymouth and oursleves have our most difficult remaining matches on the same day. If we can maintain a 6 point gap on Friday I think that will be a huge step. Any more and it is surely ours, but if the gap is narrowed to 3 then it is game very much on.

Plymouth have to go to Colchester for the 44th match. Let's hope at that point Colchester are still  in the hunt for playoffs, and not out of the running or already confimed in them

On the other hand I am hoping Exeter are confirmed in the playoffs for our match (the 45th), and their main worry is then avoiding injuries and suspensions.

Having won promotion the players will be more hungry to go on and win the division.
Not a chance of them relaxing.

Colchester have the an excellent home record and will be very tough to beat.

I would be over the moon with a draw and a Plymouth loss.

Also we are top of the league, and are also very tough to beat!

I would love us to win tomorrow to set up a possible title winning scenario on Monday, but a draw at Colchester is a good result.

The big difference for me, is that the pressure is off us but not off Colchester. We're already promoted and they are very much fighting to get into the play-offs which means, yes they'll be up for it but will also be very nervous about losing. On the other hand, our only worry is that Plymouth Could close our 6 point gap - not the same pressure, is it?

I'd take a draw now, but I'll not be surprised if Colchester get the win. If they go gung ho against us, they'll be playing into our hands, so anything is possible. You never know, their manager might just be caught in 2 minds with his tactics - play open footy and get ready, we are ruthless.
