French protests target Macron labour reforms

Protests have taken place in cities across France against changes to the country's labour laws.
The interior ministry said 223,000 protesters had attended but the unions said the number was even higher.
Two of the biggest unions distanced themselves from the action, indicating they may be willing to compromise.
It is the first big test for President Emmanuel Macron, but he missed* (a.k.a DODGED )the disruption as he was assessing Hurricane Irma damage in the Caribbean.
He was visiting St Martin and St Barts, which were among the islands worst hit by the hurricane last week

* it's a good job the French island of ReUNION is in the Indian Ocean and not the Caribbean

this bloke makes me think of that Carly Simon song "you're so vain"
by Bastille Day 14th July 2018 someone will have made a fortune making effigies of this bloke - "hollow effigies" since the bloke is "hollow"   shame the French don't celebrate Bonfire night

The bog standard French working week is less than the 37.5 hours that I think is the nirmall working week back in blighty.

37.5 hours is the standard out here and I guess across most of Europe ,with the frogs having a lower hour working week .

With the above been fact ,why on earth would a company say from USA set up its opperations in France when that have a far less working week ,which will give them far less on all accounts.

Some French politician came out the other day and basically pointed out that the French work force is lazy ,and about two years back when a yank owned factory asked to higher the working week ,the work force were saying they go on strike in protest .
