Attendance today
« on September 17, 2017, 09:10:12 pm by MrFrost »
Almost 9300 which must have meant nearly 7500 home supporters.

Such a shame we are messing it up on field, now we are finally seeing decent attendances at home.

Of course you can. Those players got us promoted. These aren't. And won't.

It's just typical of Rovers to let their supporters down just when they are coming back , to remind them why they left in the first place ironic isn't it . It's about time the board were more honest about their ambitions for the club and stop playing lip service to us  . Budgets , targets , 5 year plans , we hear this drivel all the time at the meetings , but not how much it equates too. We are left thinking that it's moving in a direction and progessing to the next level . But when the plan is put into practice it still turns out that it's still at the beginning and haven't moved anywhere . Decisions on players in and out was a farce and it seem to have achieved nothing . If we'd managed to move Williams what would we have got another reject who didn't fulfill his previous clubs ambitions for him or the sick note one that we ended up with ( no offence Akex) Did Marquis sign a contract so large that meant we are now cash strapped  to bring in anyone . Let's face it , the team this season is not what we thought it would be . It has holes in it everywhere you look with players just not good enough to step up . It will be January before we can undo the errors of The boards making . I lay the blame at their step because I do think DF has too much about him to have stettled for this lot , unless he had NO option .

Back on topic. Yes it is disappointing that we seem to have engaged the Doncaster public and are now not following it up with performances on the field. It doesn't take much for the floating section of the Doncaster crowd to vote with their feet. Many more results like today and we will soon be back to square one.

Hopefully we can break into the potential this squad undoubtedly has and turn it around.

Thats irrelevant, your question was who from the current squad would get into the promotion winning squads.

Are you seriously saying that those I mentioned I would change wouldnt have been better squad players.

They fetched about 1300. Empty seats and spread all over in the away end. It's a shame it really is as no doubt we'll be below 7k total v Shrewsbury including their 300 they bring.

1898 was the official away attendance.

Hmmmm, those players you listed most certainly posess beter individual skills; of that there is no doubt.  But the players who won the title that year played as a team. Despite their limitations they played for each other and worked hard together, playing to their teammates strengths.

This lot, despite their undoubted better individual skills, don't play as a team, don't play for each other, and berate their teammates deficiencies.

The words Chickens and Headless spring readily to mind.  There is little or no cohesion on the pitch right now. No one appears to be playing to their teammates abilities, only their own. This is a team game,  the important word here is TEAM.

Why they are like this is beyond me.  Is it down to coaching? Management? Formation? Players believing their own hype?  Whatever it is it needs sorting, and fast. There is undoubted quality in this squad,  but this squad needs to learn to play as a team if it is to be successful.

So, would they have been better squad players? Most definitely yes. But would they have been better TEAM players?  Right now, I for one am not too sure.

Thats the point. The team that won at Brentford were one of the most resilient teams I have watched in over 40 years of supporting Donny. If I remember correctly though the first 11 didnt change alot throughout the season.
Frosty's question was about squads. And I believe not many people on here would disagree that the players I mentioned from the current squad to replace squad players from that season are of a higher quality & if called upon wouldnt have enhanced the first team.

What on earth do you actually want to hear from them? why are you suddenly convinced they're lying about wanting us to be in the Championship?

Just that ! If we can't compete to return then just say so . Ambition or desire. The board have a price on one but not the other .

That sounds like a great plan to sell season tickets. "We have no ambition as a club but please handover £400"

I think they want to be there. The question is if they know what is required and how to go about it.

Probably to build a young talented team over the next 4 year's of the 5 year plan and develop them to a level good enough to be in the Championship. If any of the players leave them reinvest in better young players.
Obviously it'll need time which is the issue because some fans of our club want things right now and players in their prime. Scunthorpe players are mostly in their prime, if they go up they'll probably come straight back down as they won't progress to the next level.

Well, to be fair, that's why they pay the people like Gavin Baldwin and Darren Ferguson, who do - or certainly should - know.

Realistically we are not going to be a sustainable Championship side. Like Dingles, Millwall and Rotherham we are a yo-yo League One / Championship side. Historically, this would be a good position for us to be in.

This is obviously not a great message to sell to many folk, but a pretty good place to be.

My concern is that we are nowhere near even that level and "solid League One mid-table side" is what is looking ambitious now.
