The latest news on this is that we have all been misled and misinformed as it was not a police officer (Bob Quick) who originally put this information into the public domain, but the Sunday Times getting it from information he provided to the Levison Inquiry. Quick states he never spoke to the Sunday Times.

As the (other) retired police officers only became involved once Green had refuted this story and called Quick a liar in order to corraborate what the true facts were and who was lying - why is this not in the public interest?

I do share you concern though Billy over people whose role it is to keep the country safe and ensure the business of government and activities of ministers are kept private can be allowed to interfere with government business for private purposes. Let us not forget that this all began with some civil servant leaking private government papers to Damien Green (then a shadow minister) in order to embarass the Brown government, that he, Green, colluded with. It seems fitting it ended like it did.

You’re a strange one Wilts.

You seem to think this is a zero sum game argument. Either the politicians are misbehaving or the police are. Seems an odd way of looking at it.
