Nah, first "goal" was a strong pull on the shirt by the spurs bloke.

Other VAR good too. I hate it, but so long as it messes with Spurs heads, it's all good.

Amazing equaliser from Rochdale though. Superb skills.

the hijacking of a game formerly known as football will continue like the way Dembele comes on in a short sleeved shirt  - commentators so stupid not commented

Just about to say the same. Maybe one day technology will reach a level where an orange ball is possible  :santa:

VAR could work if the fans were involved. In both codes of rugby and also cricket all reviews are shown on a big screen.
Why can that not be done for football?
Could it be that the FA are frightened of referees being made accountable??

Big screens are needed, but at the moment the system is undermining referees. Last night there was only one decision that needed VAR involvement. The Spurs penalty and whether contact had continued inside the box.

It should be up to the referee to refer decisions to the VAR. Then the replay should be shown in the stadium.

I'm not averse to the idea of a "manager's challenge" so long as it is kept at one a game and is reserved for major incidents. But the process has to be improved massively before it gets there. At the moment it threatens to make games farcical.

I didn't see the need for the first review, it's almost like refs are now too scared to give a goal. Have to say it proved its worth for the Spurs penalty though, not sure why it took so long to give something after one replay showed it should be a penalty though.

There need to be clearer guidelines on when it can be used and what to rule on otherwise we may get to a point where players start pressuring refs for replays. I like the idea of using it for factual stuff like offside and balls over the line then doing something like the NFL challenge rules where a manager can challenge something he feels is obviously wrong 1/2/3 times a game.

Are the FA just pandering to critics to avoid answering why refereeā€™s are getting it wrong too often  and by rushing VAR into the mainstream instead of proving the system first at lower league level where the standard of refereeing is diabolical anyway they are now exposing there lack of leadership and innovation .

I saw something with Chris Foy saying everyone is misunderstanding it and VAR is used for only game changing instances...but to me that could go down to yellow cards etc

Because how is a sending off for two yellow not a game changing instance? and if one of them is unjust its causes outrage. Equally a bad tackle that goes unpunished is a game changing event!

I'd prefer they just left it as it is and we accept through the course of the season we win some and lose some but it looks like it'll happen one way of the other so hopefully they can at least start making quick decisions

Equally a bad tackle that goes unpunished is a game changing event!

I watch A League and in one game the VAR has pulled up the referee on two occasions to tell him to dish out a red (and a second yellow in one instance to make a red) for nasty tackles he's missed.

It has to be a clear and obvious error for the VAR to intervene though.

It will be a long night if we do have VAR when you consider the standard of refs that we get.
