Article in the Guardian
« on October 11, 2018, 12:54:46 pm by Sandy Lane »
Interesting article in the Guardian about Donny.  Amazon coming in has changed the landscape for retailers here in the US as well, but glad to see that Donny has a plan to reinvent itself.

I only have seen the downtown area once when RTR picked us up for a match and we drive through the downtown area.  I had remembered reading the disparaging comments on here about Donny, but thought they were very hard on it.

Anyway, glad there is a plan in place to create a new atmosphere there rather than letting store fronts close up with nothing replacing them, and it sounds like it should be lovely.

I am wary however that one day Amazon will rule the world.

Has that lagoon at the Amazon junction just to A1 side always been there (obviously not always) or has something been moved to allow it to be seen better

It has been there almost in sync with the Amazon Warehouse. They started excavating and I thought "Settlement Pond" but they kept on going. (May have been Sand / Gravel selling opportunity)

Then they stopped - retired - and let the huge hole gradually fill. I watched it rise for the last half of last Season and rise it has. Still watching the outfall pipes (when I am not driving) to see if it has stopped rising - and I thnk it has.
Needs Pirahnas in now - well it is in the Amazon  :coat:
