console gaming help please

   My young lad wants a console for xmas just one of the base models xbox1 or ps4..I've had a look at the games they do for young children and it seems pretty even..What would people recommend I get?? and can you also play the older games from past consoles on them ie xbox360 or ps1,2,3 etc cheers

We've got XB1, they're shit for backwards compatibility if that's a big thing for you. Some games will play but only a specific few which are on the xbox website.

I've got my boys a Ps4 for Xmas, non of the games from the Ps3 cross over nor the controllers.

If you get the newer model, realistically you'll find that your young un won't play the older games.

  I know this is going to sound odd German but he is a massive spongebob squarepants fan..there are games featuring him on both 360 and ps 1&2 but nothing for xbox 1 or ps4...So basically it seems theres notmuch difference between them..

If it's mainly going to be for the young un you could try picking up a Nintendo Switch. Lots of good games for kids on there, plus he can use it as a handheld too. Mario games are always a good laugh. Not sure about the amount of Spongebob games on it though!

I have to agree here Keith. turned my lad who was always out on his bike/scooter/skateboard, in to a self imprisoned bedroom zombie.
