I used to look forward to this every year.
But the BBC have turned it into a Strictly like variety show in a massive arena.
We've already had Paloma Faith singing for God's sake and Claire Balding gushing as usual.

Only caught the last 10 mins of it - used to love watching it as a kid but haven’t really watched it over the past 15 years or so. Think Thomas and Southgate were deserved winners, slightly disappointed that Cook’s ton didn’t win sporting moment of the year though.

I don't mind the variety, SPOTY has always had that. What annoys me now are the montages that have edit cuts so bloody fast you haven't got a clue what you're supposed to be looking at before you're suddenly looking at something else. Which I think is just plain disrespectful to the people they're supposed to be honouring. One day it'll happen to the In Memorium piece too, no doubt.
