No, people disagreed with you.. you say 300 is poor, I say there are good reasons why the attendance might be low..

That’s it, I may have used strong language but that is because I strongly disagreed with your use of the word crap to describe he attendance..

There int many going at minute only sold 300 as of yesterday now that is crap for boxing day
I think had it been local game it wouldn’t be a low crowd turn out , but I doubt it will stay low  if there is pay on gate , as people often leave it late to decide . I’m going because I wanted to see us get one over on them after our dismal home game performance 0-4 .

The sad thing about "only" 300 people going to Fleetwood is that it emphasises how attendances in general have plummeted through the Years - and secondly how the traditional Fixtures are beIng wiped out

I remember posting about Barnsley V Rovers the other day and how they played each other on Christmas Day at Barnsley and the return was at BV the next Day (Boxing Day) . Now that is the kind of action we NEED. Close commutes to your traditional rivals

It cant work for every Team but surely the programmers can build in " a best case" scenario for 12 Games on one day ? That could be their start point for the whole Season - and they then tailor the rest of the Season around those fixtures and so you dont end up with a Boxing Day "boring" Game to the middle of nowhere BUT get something to look forward to

As far as this Boxing Day goes there will be a great Gate at Sunderland (whoever they play or would have played) and that apart the only other "traditional" Game as I see it is Rochdale v Blackpool

The fixtures as just done by me in 10 minutes are not ideal but do these look more attractive ?

Rovers v Scunny
Pirates v Argyle
Cov C v Walsall
Fleet v Blackpool
Tykes v Bantams
Gills v Shrimpers
Wycombe v AFC Wimble
Shrews v Burton
Luton v Oxford
Charlton v Pompey
Rochdale v Acc Stan

OK I was still left with Sunderland v Posh and they (Black Cats) would be problematic due to them being on a limb - but surely we should be looking at fixtures like them rather than what we have (With connected thinking the "odd game like Sund v Posh could be chosen for TV and the Posh fans would be spared a long return journey and still see the game)

One thing we could say is Rovers at Scunny would NOT attract only 337 + and neither would a reverse fixture. So the 337 as of now that are going deserve a big up and 2 more Tickets sold will top what we took to Plymouth and Brizzle so I think we will maybe make 375 to 400 which will be an extremely good turn out for an unattractive fixture which falls on a day when peoples "priorities" are challenged by lots of other things ! Ive been offered the chance to go by Mrs DW but as yet am declining because I know it would come back to "haunt" me many times in the future !

... and I think the Gate is Crap as The Vicar said earlier but from the point of view I just spouted above. Give us our traditional games back SOON

I’ve only missed 2 games so far this season but Idd rather spend the whole day at home eating, drinking and watching football on the box in the warm with the family than spend most of the day at Fleetwood... I’ll be at gillingham though, going to the darts at ally pally straight after the game.
me two and it will be on i player to watch with my dad and a beer in hand

Will it ?? I’ll have that on the laptop then with Jeff on the tv ticking my bets off (hopefully)

I think Sunderland play Bradford City on Boxing Day. Over 40,000 tickets sold which will beat Leeds Unt's record for highest crowd in this division. They were talking about it in my Bradford local last night.

The sheffield derby in 1979 had nearly 50000 in the game, at this level. Another example of the media forgetting football existed before 1991

I don't go to Boxing Day games anymore because I have young daughters and we have a big family day.
But this is one reason why I'm slightly regretting I won't be at Fleetwood - I would dearly love to get them back for that freak 0-4!

Give them a cheer from me since-1969, I hope the lads do it for you!

I'll be going because I'm a masochistic sad bas**rd.

Saying that, my friends are clearly no better as I always have a full car...

Boxing Day footy is a regular thing for me, if it is a home game or a similar travel time (an hour or so for me)..

I'd be struggling to get to Fleetwood so my Boxing Day fix is likely to be Chesterfield v Solihull Moors. At least I can do a bit of scouting on Kiwomya and Beestin.

I was going to post that fact yesterday but I couldn't see a "fire extinguisher icon" on the thread in case it got overheated

but extrapolating ! the question is how many would go to Sunderland on Boxing Day……. can't remember last time Rovers played them in the league away

1st Jan 1988 I believe. A 3-1 defeat after Steve Burke put us ahead from a free kick in the first ten minutes.

As for your other point, I believe we will take more than 2000 to Sunderland on Good Friday.

I’m going to fleetwood and gillingham. Trapped indoors with all the family, loads of dogs, people coming round drinking and annoying me. I need to maintain my sanity. I agree we should have more local games but I need to get out and watch some football
