Today’s Game
« on December 29, 2018, 08:34:32 pm by Herbert Anchovy »
Well pleased with the result today. I thought that 3-1 flattered them a bit, we could easily have had a couple more. A fairly scrappy game but all the lads put a shift in. Apart from the first 15 mins or so we were in control and I had the feeling that we could have stepped up a gear or two if needed.

Tell you what though, even though I’ve been to Gillingham before I always underestimate how far away it is. It’s a bloody long journey home.

Think yourself lucky Herbert. I went in 1967 and we had to leave Waterdale at 11:00pm on the Friday night.
The bus was about half full and there was a man, wife and two kids on the back seat going to see relatives not the match.
We lost 3-1 and Ken Oxford wouldn't give me a complimentary ticket to get in as as he put it "I didn't have Rovers favours on".
How many Donny accents did you get down there in those days?
On the bright side there 3 goals won the Buster for me so gained about £3.
In those days you didn't set off back until about 11:00pm as well.
Happy days.
