We best win today...
« on January 26, 2019, 10:18:14 am by RoversAlias »
My Grandad, Brian Stubbings, passed away last night after a dreadful albeit swift battle with Alzheimer's.

He was a keen Rovers fan in his younger days and was the first (or one of the first) people to actually tape the matches at Belle Vue. Was a keen photographer all of his life and spent many matches sat in that tiny little shack of a gantry affixed to the top of the Popular Stand. Willie Boyd was my family's next door neighbour in the 1980's and indeed my great Grandfather, Brian's dad, passed away at Belle Vue collapsing at a match in the 80s. Rovers is ingrained within my family for many generations and that will always be the case.

It appears my Dad still wants to go to the game today, and whilst it will be difficult I think it's the best thing. So yes, the Rovers best do us a favour and make a little bit of history by winning through to the 5th Round today!

 :that:
Sometimes the football itself is transcended by legacy’s we leave for each other and our families.

My dad (70) who has been rovers man and boy, me (49) my brother 45 and my youngest son 21 will all be there together today in the south stand.

Condolences to you at this sad time.

Condolences Alias.

I know, only too well, what that terrible disease does to a person.

Enjoy that result RAs grandad.

I'm convinced he had a word in the assistant referee's ear about that handball.

An emotional day but one we have got through and the Rovers came through for us. Proud of the team today. I almost lost it when Whiteman scored the penalty.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words, it means a lot.

Thank you so much atick, would I be able to get your name to pass on those condolences? That reunion was the last public event he was able to attend.

Our biggest comfort today has been the thought that he and my Nana are finally together again, it's been so hard for him since she passed.

Thanks to everyone else who has responded here too, it's much appreciated.

Condolences, RA. Hopefully the game took your mind off it. I've only just calmed down.
