So what's happening? I've heard it's a 14 day extension. If that's the case, then unless the deal goes through before Monday, they won't be able to sign any new players, other than free agents.

In that event, the EFL should finally show some spine and insist that our game with them is re-arranged before January.

Isn’t the 14 day thing the EFL notice period.?

Yeah
If they don’t meet the deadline then the 14 day notice of liquidation begins

Thought Bolton’s biggest issue wasn’t the notice of withdrawal but more that they have literally no money to pay anything as of tomorrow morning. The administrators are shutting it down tomorrow if no buyer today. Or at least that’s what they said.

So, if another buy out offer comes in during the 14 day period do they consider it?
Then, when it inevitably falls through again do they start another 14 day notice period.

Also, do Bolton play matches during this first 14 day notice period because if they do they have a midweek match between two Saturday fixtures.
Will they cancel that?

Yes. The EFL were meeting at 5pm to discuss both clubs fate.

If the Administrator is confident (heard that before) then he will not liquidate the club tomorrow. So the EFL are likely to issue 14 days notice (as they did with Bury) and if the takeover is not complete during the 14 day period that's it. (or the Administrator could choose to liquidate before the 14 days expire)

What's unclear is whether Bolton will be allowed to play or be suspended until takeover done or 14 days pass.

They don't have any money to continue beyond today if the club is not bought though do they?

I suspect if this deal isn't agreed and signed in next 24 hours the Administrator will liquidate.

So that would be another 24 hour deadline extension over the “final one”, today at 5pm.

Today wasn't the day when Bolton were going out of business. The deadline was to invoke the 14 day notice.

The two aren't the same thing. The EFL will give them their notice tomorrow, but the administrator said if a deal wasn't struck by tonight then the club would be liquidated from tomorrow. The EFL can give as much notice as it wants but if the club has run out of money it may well not make it to the withdrawal of the golden share anyway.
