Doncaster Airport

Noticed news last night that FlyBe have completely pulled out of the airport.
It's such a shame the airport struggles to keep flights and airlines.

Flights always end up being too expensive from Doncaster I think. I’m going to Tenerife in January. Half a dozen of us booked from Donny with Thompson return for £165, the next day some more lads went on to book the same flight and it was £375. I know prices go up with demand but that’s crazy. The rest of the lads are going from Leeds now. I know that’s to do with the airline rather than the airport but it’s madness.

Every time i've used Donny it has been cheaper.

The problem you have, there's a lot less flights from Donny, so they fill up quicker, pushing up the price.

One of our clients have dealings with the airport, they reckon Peel want to push it more towards the cargo route rather than passengers.

The problem is the airline, they just financially are struggling to survive hence cull, cull, cull.

The market is clearly there if things are right. I used flybe twice at Doncaster and they were fine.  One of the problems is actually not putting enough flights on, with only one per day to cities it doesnt attract business types.   People at our place ended up flying either elsewhere or using doncaster and then another to get back.  Amsterdam a prime example of this, with multiple flights at humberside it is just easier to go from there.

We have also had the pricing issue, so much cheaper from elsewhere so guess what we did?

I’m flying from Doncaster next month, I’m only flying from there because the Mother and Father in law are flying from there and they are in their mid 80’s, otherwise it would be East Mids or Leds Bradford for me, which works out cheaper even with the Fuel costs and Car Parking, and my car only does 20mpg

I have never flown from Donny, always looked but it's always been too expensive. Normally east midlands for me which works out cheaper normally even with fuel and parking.

Lets be honest, Doncaster was always going to struggle, up against long established airports such as Manchester, Leeds and East Mids.
Long term, it will probably end up the same as Humberside and Teeside.

One of the main things that East Midlands is hoping for is the HST 2 as one of the hubs is going to be East Midlands Parkway, different side of the M1. Great planning, got a taxi from one to the other 5 years ago, £15 !!! About 3 miles, I think Dave Kitson was the driver

If you go to East Midlands these days it looks like they are building a new station much closer to the airport..
