Thank God there were no TV debates and the like in 1945.
Churchill would have wiped the floor with the modest and reserved Labour leader and the result would maybe have been different.
Clement Atlee was THE greatest prime minister we've ever had and his governments achievements stand up to any scrutiny.
Not only that he managed to keep the party in check for 20 years when it was almost as divided as it is today.
