And so it begins...
« on December 16, 2019, 03:51:02 pm by bobjimwilly »
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/boris-johnson-brexit-workers-rights-environment-climate-change-election-a9248611.html

Workers rights, environmental protections and vote on whether to extend Brexit transition period, all to be ditched.

Boris Johnson is liar; always had been, always will be. Well done Britain  :aok:

But it was a democratic vote.
A bit like Brexit.

Does that mean you are not allowed to point out that the person who won that vote said one thing during the campaign and is now saying he will do the opposite?

Democratic fascism?

Oh god.

Maybe 'Boris means Boris' is the new 'Brexit means brexit'.

No it doesn’t of course.
My comment was in reply to the “well done Britain” line at the end.

I'll venture to suggest that, actually, the vote was profoundly anti democratic.

- Consider the battalions of press barons lined up all on one side.
- Consider the cowing of the BBC a few months ago. It is now a terrified organisation. You only have to look at that Kuessenberg woman or her colleagues interviewing a Conservative for 5 minuites to see that they can no longer ask the properly difficult questions. Robin Day and Richard Dimbleby would publicly roast these pale shadows of proper interviewers
- Consider the many, many deceitful 'Research Groups' funded by secretive off shore billionaires who never disclose the source of their funding whilst all the time swaying public opinion in one specific directiion
- Consider the massive abuse of Twitter and Facebook and such like. I don't claim one party is innocent. nobody is. But I do suggest the big battalions are all on one side
- Consider the advertising spend of the major parties. The Tories spent £100M of public money only weeks ago supporting Brexit. And the Tories have the big battalions on their side too
- Consider the Tory led disempowerment of groups antithetical to their interests
- Consider the interests of the exiled billionaires and how they ensure their safety by contributing to Tory funds and secretive pro Tory propaganda

No. This wasn't a fair election. It was grossly, manifestly unfair. And that is before you even start to think about the unfairness of the electoral system itself!

I'm not saying this because I'm peed off Corbyn didnt win. I can't stand the bloke. I think he is a dinosaur whose kind should have died out 25 years ago. No. I'm saying this because democracy is being murdered right in front of our eyes.

Hound, when two teams play and one is useless, it is hardly fair. the BBC  has been very fair to the classless Emily Thornberry cutting out her swearing today, Sky didn't though, they showed what a classless nasty thing she is when being interviewed.
Not the first time she has shown her disdain for anyone is it? the stuck up piece of dog s***e.

Of course I would Hound! Did you not read what I put? The murder of democracy is jiust a tad more important than any particular party winning or losing FFS..  I thought I had made that clear.

Cheers for that Bob.
I asked because most of your other points in your post seemed to particularly target the Tories.
You must have not seen the press articles that targeted them and ridiculed BJ.
I didn’t vote Tory by the way but think that you were just a tad biased against them.

There's nothing wrong with being biased hound as an individual or as on organisation provided there is honesty about the reasons.

....So, in a court case, for instance, one side of the story will suffice in a judges summing-up?

Rubbish!

I'm expecting people to use their commonsense, maybe you'd like posters to assume there isn't any on the readers part and explain everything to the enth degree ........ but thinking about it  :)

I am beginning to think that some of our posters do actually believe that there is only one side of the argument to believe.
On a football pitch they would wear the number eleven shirt.
(Younger posters might not “get that”.)

No Deal Brexit back on the table this morning. So, about this whole "ending uncertainty" thing.

If it was unfair mate, you can bet your life Gina Miller will be running to the courts any day soon.

Hi Bulgar. I believe the reasons underlying the suggestion are in post number 5 of this thread. If you want to know more I'll happily discuss privately but there's little point doing so publicly when some people seem unable to stand aside from their own inclinations, feelings and emotions to see what is happening in the world around them.

Cheers :)

Was it Robin Day who said to John Knott, "the here today, gone tomorrow man" or something like that, causing him to storm off set
