Rail privatisation has been a scandalous mistake. Hopefully, this and the East Coast Main Line debacle is the beginning of the end.

By the way, IF this bit happens, it's another issue that Labour has been right about for a decade, and the Tories have insisted is tantamount to Communism.

"The budget is likely to be a significant affair, with new spending on infrastructure paid for by borrowing."

EDIT. Apologies to Albie. Just spotted you posted summat similar in another thread.

Just arrived at Sheffield station after 4 days up and down the country with work.

First thing I hear on the tannoy: "Northern Trains would like to apologise for the cancellation of the 16:06 service (sic) to Nottingham. This is because of a lack of drivers."

Exactly the same thing happened to me on Tuesday getting a train from London to Birmingham.

Now, I may be old school, but I'd have thought that Mission Statement bullet point 1 for a train operating company was a commitment to having enough trains to run the services you charge eye-watering amounts for, and bullet point 2 would be to have enough drivers for the same. Instead, the Kitsons cut the staff to the bone to maximise shareholder return and if that means the odd rush hour train gets cancelled and 200 people are inconvenienced, then f**k them.

Nationalise the lot of the bas**rds and let the parasites make their money somewhere else.
