Do I need to go into a dark room
« on September 20, 2020, 10:22:33 am by ridgewoodrover »
I am starting to get excited about the upcoming season.
Do I need to do the sensible thing and find a room, or can I start dreaming we’ve got another odriscoll era coming along.

It is an enjoyable feeling that I share though I am telling myself to enjoy the performances and not to get hung up on the promotion dream .I learned to run without a watch for the same reasons when I was younger and training for marathons .Enjoy the performances .

Nothing wrong with dreaming. That's why god gave us football I guess.
But in reality its far too early. Lets revisit after Christmas.
We have only played well in one game so far this season after all  :)

I'm a dreamer with an impressive portfolio of accurate prophecies. I reckon my latest prophecy of Rovers being League One champions this season will add to it.

I was 50/50 going into the season, but the more I think about it, the more I realise that half the league are basket cases or in civil war. Blackpool are the only team I'm not looking forward to playing, whereas normally there's a fair few. We could be real dark horses this year.

Take the games one at a time and enjoy them.
Teams will be working on a way to nullify us because the pace going forward is really impressive.

Let's see where we are after the first 6 games. When I saw the fixture list I did think we have a good chance of getting off to a good start.

By then, there should be no doubt about what DM wants from his players and whilst we may not have perfected things, we should have a good indication whether this season will be more than a nearly season.

After 6 games and beyond, injuries and suspensions will play a part and will test how robust the squad is. So far, without barely using Cameron John, Andy Butler, Fejiri and the maestro himself there's definitely an air of optimism.

There will be several opponents sent off this season because they will be unable to match some of our player's pace. A problem could be how many of our players will be crippled in the process.

I was shocked by the amount of negativity after last week. It was clear we have an exciting squad who will at worst be thrilling to watch - at best will terrorise this league. JJ's goal yesterday was a thrill to watch, but not unexpected after seeing last week. There will be similar from most other players in the coming weeks, and shite weeks too.

Another thing here is team spirit which has always counted in successful years - DM has mixed the cake well, all the ingredients including that essential chemistry are in the pot. If I were to get right ahead of myself, DM and his ways are perfect for a long stay in tier 2. <pulls self off the ceiling>

Calm down people, only 2 games in doom and gloom last week ecstasy this week and promotion a certainty. It's a long haul and it's going to be exciting but just rein the emotions back a bit

It’s not just the performance yesterday that’s got me glowing and sweating.
If the manager stays for a reasonably long haul, and the board and back room staff keep on the same path the future looks very promising.
Watched quest yesterday and one of the summarisers came out with the point that Our manager is trusted by premier league clubs to look after their loan players.
It could very well be that grant McCann did the Rovers a massive favour.

I see Portsmouth drew a blank today v Rochdale.

Similar to last season, I don't expect some of the fancied clubs to be a strong as we're led to believe. There wasn't a team that frightened us last season and I haven't seen anything to change that yet

Yes of course it's early to tell but for me, I think Sunderland will live up to their reputation and Blackpool look to be a force. That CJ Hamilton is some player. Explosive like Malik Wilks but better.

Beyond that, its there for the taking!

It's going to be interesting watching Fleetwood containing these lads.
Maybe a red card or two.

The last game in January and all February's fixtures  and just after the transfer window will be hard, not many easy games in that lot.
In fact we don't want to get ahead of ourselves, no game is easy, especially when you start to think they are they come back to bite you in the arse.
We have got away with one and played very well at Charlton hence 4 points out of six, something to build on but nothing more or less, as they say it isn't a sprint.
If both MK Dons and Charlton had cashed in on relatively easy chances in front of goal in both games we could be having a different discussion.

And “if” my aunt had b*llocks....

Those results are in the bag so it’s on to the most important game of the season - the next one.

No point saying games in February may be tough, we have to plan for any fixture - ie the next one - to be the toughest of the season.

To be fair, Selby, we could have been out of sight if we’d taken all ours, at Charlton. If that’s what a week on the training ground does, what is next week going to be like? ;)

No darkened room here, just one game at a time and see how we go. Already, we have 2 injuries that we have to sweat on and that’s before the rush of games is upon us next month.

I seriously don’t think we’ll see the best from this squad, until (maybe) November, which is quite some thought when you measure it against what we watched yesterday. There is still things to work on and maybe 1 or 2 more players yet to join us, so let’s see where it takes us.
