Peterborough v Chorley
« on November 28, 2020, 07:36:30 pm by steve@dcfd »
Just watched this FA cup tie and Chorley won
2-1 at London Road. Peterborough scored first within 2mins. But really after that they did not look as they were going to increase the score.
2nd half Chorley scored two quick goals and had a penalty saved. They also hit the post twice. Peterborough played their first team apart from Clarke Harris who was left out due to ankle problem. Chorley were a credit they took the game to Peterborough and dominated the game and were the better team.

Good on them. Peterborough have a really good FA Cup record in recent years so nice to see them cut down to size.

I didn’t to have a dig at DF it was how good Chorley was and we must be at our best tomorrow to make sure we get a result. We’ve got to perform from the first to last minute.

We’ve not performed from the first to the last minute in a single league game this season and still won 6 or 7 times. I’d be surprised if tomorrow was the first time we are on it for the full 90.

Very few teams dominate for 90+ mins. Yes we need to be less of a one half team though as we have in a few of the games.
The only game we almost totally dominated was the FC Utd game and that was because we were simply far superior in ability.
Any Football league team and National League team is going to have a spell or spells in the game against us where we are going to be on the back foot.
There are always two teams playing in a match.

To be fair he was honest in it said Chorley deserved it and they were really really poor.

How many of his own players did he blame?

To be fair if you’re playing your first team and they get beat against a side 3 league below you it’s down to the players

Still wouldn't be particularly good management to hang them out to dry, even if that is the case. If he had. I've not listened to his interview.

It is if DF is the manager. Nothing is ever his fault is it.

See your still defending him to the hilt Dickos.  Can i ask why you will not accept a bad word said about him.
A genuine question that’s all. Don’t want an argument. You must have your reasons and i am genuinely interested in what they are.

Camps not taking sides but I just think Dickos is stating a fact really. Would yoe expect Rovers to beat a non league team when playing our 1st team? You couldn't lay the fault at DM's door

I think the overriding sentiment coming out of his interview was it being a ‘totally unacceptable performance’ by them. Hey, we’ve all had them - he’ll be expecting ‘a response’ I dare say. That’s normally the next thing!

So long as we don’t have one of those games just yet!

He is the manager. It is his job to motivate the players. It is the manager who gets the sack not the players.
Yes the manager can’t go out and play but the buck stops with him.

The point is DF is always quick to point the finger and he never points it at himself and says “ I got it wrong”

It's the curse of the Internet. We all build up personas that don't ever want to be proved wrong.

We get painted into corners, where we end up arguing against every criticism of a DF.

It'd be much healthier if we could just have a laugh and say "Yeah, I called that one wrong" every now and then.
