Joe Root is one if the best batsman in the world up there with Smith, Kohli and Williamson. However probably the worst captain in the world.

On Sunday i was just saying how i thought his captaincy had improved.
Then yesterday those thoughts made me look very stupid.
What were those tactics all about after taking 2 wickets early on. They completely lost the plot.
Anderson, Wood and Robinson started bowling a load of tripe.
You bowl at the stumps or in the corridor of uncertainty just outside off stump to tail enders. Yes the odd shorter ball ok.
The field placings also were totally negative.
What i saw yesterday was beyond belief.

I'm looking forward to my first Caribbean cricket tour next winter, hopefully we may have improved a bit by then.
