Dave Cusack's Struggle with Dementia
« on August 25, 2021, 03:12:18 pm by AlonzoDrake »
I've just read this very sad story below in the FP regarding Dave Cusack. We read more and more about this vascular head condition being diagnosed in pro-sports players involved in contact games like rugby and soccer, and indeed in NFL football. When Dave was player manager, I was involved in compiling the Match Day program, and often had the opportunity to chat with him. He is a great guy, as Brian Deane attests in this piece, and I thought Cusack did well in assembling a really good League One (D3) in the mid 80s with a limited budget. He lived at Loversall back then, and I occasionally bumped into him at the Fox and Hounds pub at Wadworth -- I always recall when he told me one evening that he'd made a great signing, and that I must keep it quiet, lol. That signing was Tommy Gaynor, and boy was he a good signing or what. My best wishes and thoughts go out to Dave and his family in this difficult time.

Very sad to hear that news.

DC was a customer of ours at our retail business in Barnby Dun when he was Rovers manager.

He tried to run the club single handily at times when the club was struggling financially and were somewhat under staffed.
Very good centre half for us and gave 100% when he was manager.
Wish him and family all the best.
