Rick Astley sings the Smiths

This is vying with the Bootled Beatles as the ultimate tribute act.

Really Rick has a better voice than Morrissey and he's a nicer bloke too. And he's a real fan.

The Smiths willl never reunite, this is the best Smiths experience you are likely to get now.

RD, what makes you think Rick Astley is a nicer bloke than Morrissey?

No. I've read their interviews.

Morrissey is a complex character, I admire his work but I don't think I'd get on with him.

Is your reasoning political by any chance?

Believe it or not long before Morrissey became overt nationalist, I had my doubts about him. I didn't like the fact he doesn't like club music for instance.

In fact I have some sympathy with his nostalgia for a Britain past. His love of Ealing cinema and so on. I love all that too but times change.

So, it's not political then, and had he been taken under the wings of Stock Aitken and Waterman he'd have been as nice as Rick Astley! I see!

Pete Waterman is a good lad. A huge railway enthusiast and a regular visitor to Doncaster.

Did you know Pete Waterman is a big fan of The Fall?

Love The Smiths. Lyrical genius. So depressing. So refreshing.

The Fall also, great band.

Rick Ghastly on the other hand. Cringe.
