Saw them on a Bank Holiday Monday at Sandall Park on Wheatley Hall Road, supported by the Uncool Danceband!!
Proper punk rock.

The very same gig I saw them at, I always remember Mensi saying “ I hope Margaret Thatchers fanny festers and her fingernails drop out so she can’t scratch it”

The line up was:
Steve Bogart (vocals), Geoff Carline (guitar), Wayne Tyas (bass), Steve Maxwell (drums)

Steve Maxwell passed away a few years ago. He could usually be seen running the paper shop on Beckett road or propping the bar up in the Tut

Wayne is a big noise on the VW scene and recently sold a van to Johnny vegas for his Glamping site show on TV last year.

The Uncool Danceband were big in Japan!
I have a Japanese CD (Compact disc, not cross dresser), with virtually everything they ever recorded on it.
It is cracking punkpop but I can only take Steve's vocals in short doses. It's too high for my ears!
The sleevenotes in the CD are brilliant with newspaper clippings of the band's progress.
Record Collector has the value of Jacqueline at £50. I sold mine recently and got £12 lol.
I did get £40 for 'Let me be your Boyfriend' though.

I wasn’t really into Uncool Dance Band, can’t remember where I got the record from, but bought it because Steve Mazwell was from Stainy at the time and ran Chapmans Newsagents on Church Road. That was around the time Rick Harrisons Music Ground shop started up in Stainy before he moved onto bigger things

Amazingly they haven’t got a Wikipedia page. Or I can’t find one

One of my best mates at Danum Grammar - Glyn Warren - went on to become guitarist with the Angelic Upstarts.

When I went on to work in the footwear industry, I used to send training shoes to the band to wear on tour and they sent me their records in exchange!

I remember Angelic Upstarts and Uncool Dance and from the flyposters in the subway under Trafford Way between the train station and the Arndale when I was a kid. Probably 40 years ago now.
