Broadband upgrade question
« on January 10, 2022, 10:50:42 am by Donnywolf »
Hi
Contract up for renewal and I am being offered 66mbs speed as inducement [looks value]

At the mo I pay for 36mbs but get 14 to 17mbs on average as I am 0.7 miles from Cabinet

So if I took the 66 would my 14 to 17 go up to [say] 26 to 30 - because they wouldnt offer me faster speed if I couldnt get higher - would they ?

All depends on if they have upgraded between cabinet and your mansion DW, there are some very unscrupulous sales tactics used on broadband sales

cheers rd.

I have posted on supplier Forum as well and waiting to see what they say but a BT analysis reckons I could get 18 mn to 26 max

14 to 17 is no problem - no buffering so may stick with that, but if extra £2 could get me say 22 I would take it

I guess your speed also depends on how many others are hooked into your branch line Wolfie.

.... just got this reply on other Forum - so guess that answers my question. Cheers all

Fibre extra will have no effect on your speed, Plusnet shouldn't even allow you to order it. You have to be syncing at the full 40Mbps download on Unlimited fibre, then Fibre Extra removes the 40Mbps cap to allow the line to run at higher speeds. You are nowhere near 40Mbps so nothing would change.

Colin, are you mixing wolf up with hound mate?
Although it is worth noting that one other poster keeps bringing me into the conversation when I’m not involved.
