Injury updates
« on July 14, 2022, 09:09:09 am by steve@dcfd »
Taylor damaged is quad could be out for 2 months at least.
Anderson as got to manage the pain as the specialists do not want to do surgery do he might be back some games into the season.
Andrews again done his quad but saying 7 to 10 days.

Sounds like the injury luck from last season is rolling on into this season! No mention of close in there.

Sounds like RW this time last season - he will probably exile his striker once fit.
Interesting to read the comments after the Wellens interview, it seems Ling pulls the strings there

Well, we're not going to miss what we haven't got as far as Taylor's concerned.

Anderson is obvs the major worry as managing that isn't going to be easy. Likely he's going to be worried about it as it will only be natural to be tentative with the injury. Going to take sometime before he can get conference he's not going to break down everytime.

Very unlucky for Andrews. We desperately need better luck with injuries but no need to panic yet!

2 of our highest earners not going to be playing very much at all though. A complete waste.

Things are starting to get quite concerning ahead of the season now, for me. We're a couple of weeks away and we have...

- Mounting injury list in key positions
- No left back
- Unproven Manager who doesn't seem to know how he wants to approach things tactically
- Unproven HOF (legend, but it's a big job to take on)
- Seemingly limited resources to further bolster the squad in a serious way

Really hoping for some better news to come along soon. The optimism I felt after signing players like Molyneux and Miller is starting to ebb away.

How about some positive reframing?

Taylor is the only long term injury.
Anderson not as bad as feared.
The new left back on trial sounds good.
Miller 3 in 3.
2 assists on debut for Molyneux.

Sign Josh Martin and forget about Taylor. He wouldn't get in anyway then.

What about Knoyle, Close, and Barlow? We also don't know the extent of Clayton's issue yet.

It’s of course true that every single club gets injuries and at times, carries a long injury list. Our issue for some unknown reason is that we have for the last few seasons constantly been carrying an injury list and that has constantly involved a number of our most senior and highest paid players.

Given some of these players were out for a good part of last season it is very disappointing they are not going to be ready still for weeks or months, and that there are new players dropping on to the list with injuries somehow incurred in the pre-season phase.

Once you fall behind it is very hard to get ahead ie with several players out at any one time the pressure on the others to play and play longer is greater, meaning they are themselves more likely to get injured.

We need to concentrate on what we have - any of the long term injuries who get fit are a bonus, giving a boost to a decent squad.
Knoyle is supposed to be not far off and Younger has been “ok” at RB
We need to nail down a left back and give the team some game time together to work on things. My main worry at the moment is Clayton if the tweak has got any worse.
Hopefully Andrews is fit for FCUM really think him and Miller can make an impression this season

Let’s see how the new medical set up deals with it. Fresh start this season, near everybody gets injuries in pre season.

Again who ever signed off Taylor that 3.5 year new deal should never work in football again. Unfortunately for Taylor he’s broken

Amazing isn't it, Taylor aside and the words from the article "There is also encouraging news on Tom Anderson’s injury", some of you will have us believe we have a desperate injury crisis.

Of course, it's not ideal and whether Taylor, Anderson and Close are better paid players or not, it's not a conspiracy or situation that is any worse than last season.

Sometimes no news is good news and both Anderson and Close should be nearer to regaining fitness than they were.

In the meantime, Taylor has been ably replaced by Molyneux, the midfield should be able to function without Close, albeit we may need someone in like Tomlin to add to the creativity.

We have Miller and Andrews who are shaping up to be much better than Dodoo and Hiwula who have gone, and are not hanging around like a bad smell.

More business to be done. There's still quite alot to like.

Bang right DBR, I’m sure all clubs will have injuries at this time of year
We could do with the old Anderson back of course but I’m more than happy with the business we’ve done so far.
When/If Taylor is back it will be like a new signing

when the quotes regarding Andersons injury are all about managing pain I’m not sure it really is that positive. It says he hopes to be back early in the season but no actual time scale on it. Remembering this isn’t a fresh injury but still the same one that plagued him for much of last season I just cannot see it as a positive.

Supposed to be a different area but I share your concerns
