Since the second innings of the second test Vs NZ, he's scored 460 runs in 406 balls at a current average of 230.0

This is turning into one of the greatest purple patches of all time.

Was great watching him yesterday (tv)

He was great yesterday and some huge launches into the crowd but also some superbly timed shots as well

His Dad I hope looking down in awe (and superbly proud of course)

Best thing they ever did for him was to take the gloves off him, after he then got dropped he finally realised that his position in the test team was always going to be purely as a batsman. Fantastic summer for him.

He played one shot yesterday, just before the rain break, that is as brutally pure a shot as I've ever seen. Good length ball outside the off stump and he hammered it off the front foot over cow corner. That was the longest boundary at Edgebaston and he cleared it by miles.

But it wasn't a slog. It was a totally controlled shot.

Must be a glorious feeling to see the ball that early and that clearly. I once had half a season in the South Yorks League where everything clicked like that (relatively) and I couldn't do anything wrong for weeks.  Best one was going in at No6 when we were 150ish for 4 with 3 overs left, and coming off 15 mins later 43 not out.

Never knew where it came from - I was crap before and after. Lovely while it lasted though.

He has been the fall guy to be dropped for a few years now, every excuse when bad results have happened in the past.
If he had not scored that ton in that second innings and we most likely would have lost the game, the commentators and the powers that be were ready with their axe again.
He has done great to get those runs, and they have probably saved his test career which was teetering on the brink, while others potter along scoring the odd twenty and every two years a hundred that keeps them in the team.

The timing of his shots during this spell has been majestic, violent but with an assured control.

Everyone, sometime in their life should have their fifteen minute's of glory. Some just have the whole hour's worth.

I remember once being in for the last over and needing 12 to win. I left the first two balls outside the off stump. Was getting slated by my own teammates! Then 4-4-4 in the next three balls. Still to this day don’t know why I left the first two. Must have just known I only needed two balls whatever happened.
