What do squad numbers say about GM preferred first-team choice?

I wonder if some players might have requested certain numbers.
Close with number 33 for example.

Close with number 33 for example.
Ben Close was number 8 just season

Wonder why Close didn’t have that last season, someone mentioned he had history with 33 at Portsmouth

28 players including 3rd GK tomorrow only 18/19 could be available for first game with 7/8 players injured of which 3 are carried over from last year and Barlow whose not been available from the start of preseason and never gets a mention.

notice the absence of "wonky " names  meaning a great saving on the "ink budget" and the players with shorter names on their backs ought to be able to run faster

Which is why I mentioned that Close had probably asked for 33.

Obviously spent too much time in a casino and when the ball lands either side of 33 on 16 or 1 his mates would shout "close" :coat:

Sorry to be pedantic, Steve, but it's 27 players. One extra player could make a difference though, if it was anyone decent.
