Tom Anderson

Reinstated as captain after being unanimously elected by his teammates in a secret ballot. Is that a sign of him signing a new contract aswell?

Good idea though the secret ballot, asking the players rather than the manager deciding

Think that’s probably unusual. Wonder how many other managers have done that?
What would DS have done if the players had chosen someone he thought was not appropriate.

I would imagine Anderson got a large majority though. Only other candidate is Tommy Rowe and he is still injured at present.

Anderson would certainly be my choice.

It wasn’t that long ago some of our fans wanted him out

I think GM made Tommy Rowe club captain. Clayton team captain. So assume TR still is Club Captain.
Stand to be corrected if I am wrong.

TA is a "seasoned professional" as the saying goes, he has always been doing his best for Rovers, despite being surrounded by those of lesser quality at times, If the players have that much respect for him it is because he has earned their confidence. Good luck to him, I just hope he stays injury free for the rest of the season.

Yes Filo and I think some of the comments on here about Anderson were disgraceful.

He has always given nothing less than 100% to Rovers on the field and probably off it also.
Received a very nasty injury which must have knocked his confidence, quite understandably.

He has come back and is again a 100% player for us.  Well done TA. Shows guts.

And Tom himself

Quite an encouraging interview that!

Reading between the lines, and it’s not hard too given the interview, he was quite hurt losing his armband, possibly more than fans realise, and he said more than he thought he would be.

if we’re talking purely about football, I would be one of those people

If we were talking purely about football, we'd want the whole lot of them out, especially the defence.

Tom's no worse than the rest of them.

Think the problem has been in front of the defence

Me too. A fit happy tom Anderson is a massive player for us. Under Darren Moore he was brilliant as a box defender.  Our best defender for me with the right players around him.

Yes the defence had it’s problems and still has. But we’ve never had the consistency of playing together with injuries.
But the missing link is what’s in front of the defence since Whiteman left for one but we haven’t had another player like Kane or even Sheaf, first Smith, Ramsey and Richards. Noticing the last five were loans.
Overall the level of the playing staff has reduced year on year.

Some Gillingham fans are "in dreamland" thinking they can get Tom to join them

Just had a look at their forums CLH and can’t see any reference to Tom Anderson.
Where have you got that from?
