We played 3-5-2 today. Brown & Seaman were pushed up very high for a lot of the game and Molyneux stayed fairly close to Miller throughout.

By heck DS didn’t we look better for Miller having some support. Please tell me the Penny has dropped at last.

A wingback would still not offer the same starting position or threat as a traditional wide midfielder (exceptions are TAA and Cancelo as examples)
Hurst needs to work on his body strength, gets brushed off the ball far too easily

You have lost me my fellow CR Brown and Seaman were wing backs in a 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 depending whether we were defending or attacking. When Hurst came on you could make a case to say it became slightly more fluid. I think we can become obsessed with formations and what we are supposed to be playing. The one thing that stands out a mile is Miller needs someone close to him to be affective. The same goes for Lavery. Neither are either big or physically strong enough to play the lone striker role. Hopefully after today DS has grasped that fact and will play 2 up top for the remainder of the season.Whatever formation we play it’s vital that which ever 2 play up top that Miller, Lavery or Molyneux if he continues to play the role he had today are playing close together and they are given passes on the deck and not 20ft up in the air. The midfielders also as they did today need to get up and support the front players. Today 1st half it was much better and we scored 2 goals. DS take note please. Not rocket science is it.
