I’d like to see all Rovers games ( - even at the moment), but if the club’s existence were thereby threatened, it would be a worry.

There are many sides to this. Would significant numbers of people who could attend matches decide to watch them on TV instead if they could? The main gain would be the number of fans either too distantly-exiled, very old or severely immobile. Would local fans change from actually going to games?

What are the economics? Would clubs gain more revenue via TV than they would lose on gate receipts?

Would fans desert EFL football in favour of even more easily accessible matches of PL clubs even though most are pretty easily seen via Sky, BT etc., already?

My own view is that if I still lived in the Doncaster area, nothing beats actually being there in the stadium. A season ticket might well be cheaper anyway.

Not for me, I don’t do Sky, so won’t be watching any on TV - I hope we can still listen to/watch on iFollow for games I can’t make? If not, i’ll have to miss out, just like the premier league, I won’t be watching! F*ck*ng Sky!

They’ve destroyed the premier league with their obscene amounts of money, now they’re after lower league as well. They don’t do it for charity, it’s about profit & this will not be to the benefit of fans or teams, they’ll use efl as fillers and on quiet days & evenings & we won’t have any say on scheduling.

Actually read it now and I don’t watch sky so didn’t know. It doesn’t sound like much of a change other than the exclusivity side of it. I’m sure we won’t get many televised games so I don’t think it’s too much of an issue for us? I’ll still be there, at home at least, and hopefully iFollow can continue so I can follow away games?

I assume with any sky deal that all clubs in the same division would receive the same money and as they compete in the same market there would be no benefit to the teams on the park, possibly improved catering.

This is a long read but helps to understand (or not) what's happening.

thanks for the link SER, of course I was wrong, why would it be an equitable distribution of funds!

''“When I speak to the EFL, they tell me that every club has the same opportunity,” Holt says. “Both clubs can sell streaming to both games, home and away. But you might have one club with a 100,000 fanbase to sell into. I’ve got 2,000. The opportunity for me is neither use nor ornament''

If the money was equitable you get back to sq 1.
