Tennis Balls and Oranges
« on April 13, 2023, 07:42:30 am by Donnywolf »
Old codgers will be reminded of Hull Keeper Ian McKechnie who was always thrown Oranges after being seen eating one during a game.

We had 4 tennis balls at various times whereas when he ran out for kick about (not like these days a Training session) he would get them thrown to him or at him by away fans

Then he would get some if they changed ends and then even more after Half time. This is a Birthday Card they made and sold in Shop for him

Here is a link but there must be YouTube films I bet.

You know what Wolfie, I’m sure we had five tennis balls thrown onto the pitch last Monday.

That would make sense actually esp if :

2 had T's on them , 1 had N ,  1 had E and one O ?

Happy memories Pap. I was at that Wolves match didn’t City win 3-2 I maybe wrong. What a forward line the Tigers had in Houghton, Wagstaff and Chilton if only.

Wasn't there a game in 97/98 where we were all encouraged to take tennis balls to throw on the pitch to get the game stopped? Also a game where we were asked to all take whistles so the players didn't know if it was the ref or us.

I'm sure there was an orange leaflet with the 'disruption details' if anyone has a copy, be great to see it

At the first away game this season at Bradford, there was a young lad behind the goal at the home end that was throwing satsumas at Mitchell, he must have had a sack full of them, the stewards left him alone even though it was blatantly obvious to those around him.

Not found Video yet but this is a great read especially the explanation by the man himself half way down

Fascinating fact for those that don't read this .... He was the first Keeper ever to save a Penalty in a Penalty Shoot out

Only slightly wrong. The mighty Wanderers only scored 1 but the "Targets" did get 3

Surely you're taking the pith.
