Can't believe this was 10 years ago!

Any more pranks like that and you'll be sentenced to 10 years compulsory reading of CLH's posts.

Am I kidding myself thinking this could happen? There has certainly been radio silence out of the club, you'd think a 'not interested' would have made its way to the Free Press somehow to manage expectation.

Billy has never struck me as one particularly motivated by money, and surely won't want to up sticks so must be looking at a Yorkshire club - we must be a strong proposition for him if he doesn't mind the drop to League Two. He would rip it up.

I agree, talked to a SU supporting mate last night who said exactly that, he's had a good career and made a few quid, he'll still earn good money here (£3k a week is £150k a year) but he's about his roots and that connection with fans and definitely won't want to move at this stage of his life. We'll make his wages back just in selling the letters 'S' 'H' 'A' 'R' and 'P' in the club shop.

Surely JR still has that million quid kicking around that he loaned us to sign him, that should cover a couple of years wages for him :D

Thinking exactly the same as you Keyser. You expect silence on transfers going through, Lawler,Broadbent,Sterry all a bit out of the blue. Wood seemed to be linked to us very early after he waved goodbye to Rovrum. So that wasn’t a surprise. Sharp very similar to Wood in that a link to us was instantly made and is now being talked about (a lot!). The fact there has been no denial at all, suggests to me something is happening. Unless the club feel that the speculation is good and keeps Rovers profile high amongst its fan base at a quiet time. But the longer it goes on the bigger the let down…

You're right of course. Maybe I was assuming Dick (may he RIP) never got it back.  :coat:
