Apparently they were selling one particular type of cake at a ridiculously high price to cover their tracks.
When he was questioned about it, the owner replied ‘That’s Madera Cake.’

And of course there was the time I was queueing up there and a Scotsman pointed at the cakes and asked me, "Is that a scone or a meringue?"

I told him he was right, it was a scone.
