Sprot, are you suggesting that during rescue at sea those in danger would have to be questioned and their identity and status determined before being pulled into the boat?

The Boats should not be there in the first place , their presence if encouraging folks to jump into un seaworthy Vessels and commit criminal acts, they are not Asylum seekers they are illegal immigrants!

stop obfuscating and answer a simple question sprot

Sorry, you are wrong that was the name of Hawkins ship he was the Captain. Badly worded question Sproty, had you said on which ship was Drake a crew member of on his 1st slaving expedition fair enough. But the terminoligy you used infers that Drake was the captain of the ship

My badly worded question Raven, no record of him going before but that was his first slaving expedition, and you are right Hawkins was the expedition Commander ,Drake ended up as commander of one of several other ships in the fleet, The ‘Judith’,it’s nice to see other posters with an interest in history!

I got a 2/1 in History, a Post Grad Diploma in Museum Studies and I am a Postman. Started off my working life as a bricklayer.

Is there a prize for this or something?

I totally agree, they are taking them in the wrong direction they should be taking them back to the shores of Africa, as our Maritime rescue units should be taking them back to France.

The boats were coming in before we left the EU.
Had we taken any of them back to France before we did leave?
(I voted to remain by the way).

France has closed its borders with Italy! When I visited Germany this July I never even saw any border controls, I believe that will be changing in the not too distant future!

Heh, you are being played.

Legal immigration is a long way beyond illegal immigration. The Tories love immigration! Cheap labour, great for the growth figures...

The Tories love immigration. Which is why they have a new trade deal with India that will allow much more migration.

You're being played as mugs.
